Everything looks great Sarah! This job isn't as difficult as a lot of members think it is and it corrects about 80% of the questions you see posted here on SS. It's also a lot less expensive than a rebuilt generator!
Cheers
Wirefox, have you tried the GD USB box with the original single earpiece David Clark headset that came with them?
M38in maine, just curious why this video got posted in this topic?

There's no noise filtering or voltage regulation going on in stock 7777 & 7778 transient suppression units. They're only there to keep any transients in the electrical system below a certain voltage to prevent damage to sensitive electrical equipment like radios. If you saw one that does...
Augi's correct here. The MX7777 and it's little cousin the MX7778 were designed primarily for use in tracked vehicles where you have large solenoids kicking on and off that produce lots of electrical transients that can damage radios. This would also hold true for trucks like wreckers. In...
cclary25,
If this is a new vehicle to you beyond the repair of the glow plugs problem here's a list of projects to consider.
1) change all fluids, engine, trans, steering, brake
2) change all belts and hoses
3) check all CV boots for splits and cracks
4) lubricate all zerk fittings
5)...
You might want to download a copy of TM 9-2815-237-34 and have it handy when your working on the engine. This is the manual that covers the 6.2 and 6.5 liter engines.
It sounds like the solenoids coil is shorted to ground to me. The wire that sounds the horn when attached must be the 24V hot lead. This would cause the horn to sound if the other terminal was shorted to ground and also would explain why it would short the system when connected to the other...

Several of the northern California MVCC members came down for this event to show their support to our southern counterparts. We had a great time even with the weather and enjoyed ourselves immensely. For a first go round I think they're off to a great start and it's heartening to see more MV...
The way the horns work in most MVs is the 24 volts is always on one terminal when the master light switch is in the service brake or service drive positions sending power to the horn all the time. The second wire on the horn goes through the steering column to the horn button and when you push...
When I replaced this hose on my 996A1 I used an Aeroquip hose with flare fittings on both ends that I bought off of Ebay. Good high pressure rated hose and aircraft fittings. Haven't had any issues with it in 15 years. I've never trusted hose clamps on hydraulic lines.
It might be easier to just go to Southern Axle Exchange and buy a rebuilt axle if you've never rebuilt one before.

In the 60 amp alternator system the heavy 8 gauge output wire from the generator goes thru the control box (ESS, S3, KDS, Nartron, LAU,or Prestolite) then to a stud on the starter. From the starter to the battery the connection is made thru a chunk of really heavy gauge welding wire directly to...
