The grounding harness makes up for a lack of good electrical bonding in the HMMWV caused by the way the body is put together. It's purpose is to make sure there are no potential differences between the power train, vehicle electrical system and instrument cluster. One of the biggest sore spots...
My suggestion would be to tee in a mechanical oil pressure gauge there where the sender is and see what your oil pressure is really doing. Military gauges and sensors are made by the lowest bidder and some are OK and some aren't. You could also have something strange going on in your oil filter.
I just looked into Fedex shipping a C pillar from California to Ohio and they quoted me $231! I understand that Fastenal will ship things for you at better rates.
Sarah,
I don't know where Warwick is in the UK but Jon did this same job a while back. Here's a link to his post: https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=223659&p=1313374&hilit=hmmwv+spindle+nut#p1313374

After you've driven it for a while you'll find your truck has a "sweet spot" where it likes to cruise that can be anywhere between 50 and 60 MPH. My M996A1 like it around 57 but every truck is different. Keep in mind the government speed recommendation. It's there for a reason and remember...
We've been using the VRC-12 family of radios in our HMMWVs for the past 20 years. Typically we operate in the bottom of the 6 meter amateur band on 51.00 mhz. There's no license to listen here but to transmit you should have a minimum of a Technician Class radio license. Since the FCC dropped...
The hissing sound your hearing is the power steering fluid moving through the Kysor-Cadillac valve. The easiest way to remedy that is to wrap a piece of an inner tube rubber around the valve inside the hose clamp.
There's always a chance that the valve is intermittently failing and they do...
I haven't had the heat shields on mine for the last 15 years because the right side is almost impossible to get to with the engine in the vehicle so they're something to think about. The left side is wide open but anything on the right side is fair game........
I just wanted to mention here that most failures with the Kysor-Cadillac valve are from failed coils and usually not the valve internals and that coil can be easily replaced for considerably less money than a new solenoid valve. Google "24V solenoid coil" and you'll find plenty of them under...
The IP power wire is labeled #54 and plugs into the top of the IP. Pulling this wire off is also a simple way to disable the vehicle as the engine won't start with it unplugged.
Depending on how much fuel you have in the tank just get a large plastic drain pan and loosen the drain plug and catch what comes out. HDPE tanks are notoriously hard to reseal but if the holes are small enough plug them with a stainless self tapping screw and then cover them with some stuff...
If you happen to have an Army facility near you you might stop by and ask them. If they haven't tossed them all they might just give you a set to save themselves the trouble of carting them to the dumpster! LOL
Somehow I don't think printing a couple of thousand page manuals would be a good idea.
I've always found that when working on my truck the hard copy manuals were better than the electronic versions. When I was up at the NG maintenance facility the other day I was told that hardcopy manuals are a thing of the past and that the government is now going to IETMs, interactive...
Here's a link to one that's available but I've never had much luck ordering from Alibaba. Once they get your name you get bombarded by offers for everything in the universe...
