    mx-6707 antenna base parts availability

Other than the diode across the stepper motor (that occasionally shorts out) there's not much you want to replace in the 6707. If you were to replace the tuning coils do you have the necessary test equipment to re-tune them? The housings crack, the plastic feedthru for the frequency selector...

    Electronic master vehicle switch question???

The electronic switch does have a cool factor to it but consider that the three lever switch can be operated by touch and after years I still have to look at the electronic switch to operate it.

Can I just weld a glow plug hole shut

I wouldn't weld the hole shut for two reasons. One is that cast iron is very difficult to weld without preheating it and the other is that you'll ruin the head. I would go the thread chaser route and if that doesn't work take the head into a shop and have them fix the problem for you. That'll...

Best place to buy soft top and C pillar?

I have 2 new C pillars on the side of the house if you want to pay shipping from San Jose California. $99 each + shipping.

    fan not kicking on

The fan should kick in somewhere between 230 and 240 but military gauges are build by the lowest bidder so you never know exactly how accurate they're going to be. If the fan kicks in at the same point every time the engine heats up you're probably good to go.

    M-151 A2 windshield on a 151a1

I did this conversion on my '65 A1 about 15 years ago so that I could benefit from the electric wipers which here in California is almost meaningless! LOL Something you want to keep in mind is that there is no ground connection in the 151 or A1 other than through the hinges or windshield...

    Turn Signal Switch replacement

Another thing to remember when replacing anything electronic in the HMMWV is to disconnect one of the battery leads. This includes turn signal switches, PCBs, and alternators.

Power location for reverse camera and monitor

ZZZZZZCOBRA1 did and then you brought up the 12V side of things in your post. Then Pierreab asked about balancer specs in his post. It's really not an issue as long as people read the whole forum and understand that we're talking about separate issues. I'm running a 100 amp Vanner unit in my...

Power location for reverse camera and monitor

Some of the best battery management systems are made by Vanner here: http://www.vanner.com/products/ Victron is also a good option here: http://shop.pkys.com/Victron-Battery-Management-System-BMS-12200_p_6672.html Battery management systems are expensive but they will keep the charging and...

    fan not kicking on

Take the thermostatic switch out and put a multimeter on any resistance scale across it. Heat it with a hair dryer and see if it switches. It should change from open to closed and back when heat is applied and removed. Remember to test the right switch. The one behind the alternator is only for...

Power location for reverse camera and monitor

It's not a good idea to pull 12V from the low side battery even for something as low powered as a backup camera. The best solutions are either a voltage dropper (regulator) or a battery management unit like Carrera911 mentioned. Most of them are small units that will fit down inside the...

Camp Petaluma West Coast MV Swap Meet, Gathering April 24-29, 2018, California

For our final hurrah at KOA Petalume the meet went very well. Plenty of interesting goodies on the tables and lots of great camaraderie. The EMU309 Huey rides were the highlight of the event!

    Racal Headsets

We had this box out this past weekend and it worked perfectly with an RT-524 in a friends M151A2. I've put together a couple of them now for people and all the feedback is positive.

How difficult is it to change to a regular thermal fan?

You have a couple of options to change the system. Flex-a-lite makes a 24v variable speed fan controller but you have to contact them for the number because it wasn't in the catalog. Couple that to a 24v fan and mount it below the radiator and you've got a system that works well and doesn't...

HOW TO: Tension V Belts on a HMMWV 6.2 Engine

I typically use a large Rigid strap wrench around the alternator.

    Fluid capacity and Filter numbers?

Once again for all of you new HMMWV owners out there, the military maintenance manuals are written for peoples of all skill levels and include answers to 90% of the questions we see posted here. They're all available for free to download at multiple sites on the internet. If you own one of...

    Broken Glow Plug Question

The electrical system does provide the power to the glow plugs but it is not a constant current type system. Each individual glow plug acts as a resistance load on the batteries and draws current based on it's internal resistance. The good plugs are low resistance loads and will draw the most...

    Broken Glow Plug Question

It sounds like the way you tried to remove the glow plug was incorrect if you snapped it off at the threads. If you held the center section with a wrench and then tried to unscrew the outer section it would have snapped the glow plug rather than unthreading it from the block and also have...

    Out of fuel....or am I?

It sounds more like you've had a fuel pump failure or possibly a fuel line break. If you haven't had issues with the fuel gauge before then it should still be showing a proper fuel level. Running the system dry is a PITA in the HMMWV and requires certain things to get you going again...
