Here's a thread about air horns.

Also, mkowen has some info on what he did in this "working on the M1078" thread.
I also found a 24V back up alarm, but haven't decided to install it yet... I see the utility and safety value, but it removes all stealth capabilities
On a separate note, I purchased a NOCO Genius G7200 12/24V battery charger and maintainer. I originally did this to keep the...
In the process of doing the driver's door handle (key cylinder) R&R, I broke the window crank during removal. It was lodged pretty tightly and just broke while I was tapping the handle attachment.
Here is what I'm left with to roll down the window... I'm using gloves at this point [thumbzup]...
Here I am driving down the road...
while I think about how I should mount and install the Cat power cutoff switch.
The obvious place is here:
But, I would really like to have it in the cab. I may dig underneath the power panel on the passenger side to see if there is a main lead coming in there.
Through the course of taking the kids on short shake down missions, we had a passenger door handle failure. We were still able to open the door, but the handle was in danger of completely failing. I was able to source a NOS handle with keys from SS member recksmilparts. It was an exact...
Ok, It's time I get a thread started to chronicle projects on the truck. This is a 1996 M1078 with about 15,400 miles when we bought it. Here is a photo pretty much as we brought it home.
This truck was one that was owned by a local TN police department and then auctioned off. I bought it from...
No, but that would be a dream come true! There are several members here who do have such businesses. I've bought parts from recksmilparts and suprman. There are many others also. You will find this a helpful bunch. We all sort of dabble in parts to feed the hobby though.
Has anyone figured out a good place in the cab to install the keyed power cut off switch? It would need to be close main power wires... near the power distribution panel maybe?
Very nice and welcome aboard! Will you be driving it back home? Just hit us up if you need anything on the way back through Nashville. Oh yes, and photos are needed! Show us the new rig.
Come on y'all. There's got to be more action going on in Durhamtown than that. Us'ns back home are starving for a bit more multimedia from the event.
Now that's rather humorous... maybe we should re-title the thread, "Re-purposing howitzer cover for LMTV Storage"
I'm not sure it really needs a cover there, but it might keep falling leaves from accumulating at the engine/tranny junction since I live in the woods.
I found this canvas in the bed of the M1078 we purchased last month. It appears to be a cover for the space between the bed and cab. I can't imagine anywhere else it would fit as it seems to be form fitted for the air intake and spare tire. I haven't totally figured out the correct...
Troops, I ran across this PDF in my searching for information one day and have meant to post here. We have many discussions going about cargo covers, shelters, etc. However, I've yet to see one of these discussed. It is a somewhat hybrid system in that it is hard sided, but collapses to a...
Back to the theft deterrent stuff... I found a 24v rated power cut off switch with key on the big auction site for around $18 shipped! It appears to be a Caterpillar part. It is really heavy and well built. I hope to mount it inside the cab somewhere convenient, but will have to dig and see...
You may want to post your needs in this thread.

SS member simp5782 does quite a bit of hauling in this area, so he may be a good one to check with.
