Sorry for my tardiness on this. I was going to mark out some masking tape for the diameter of my balancer, but I instead got lazy and bought the Cummins magnetic timing tape kit with magent pointer. Fits a variety of balancer sizes. Getting ready to finally take some base line data and then...
Besides switching to a P7100 pump, that's probably about it for the stock 8.3L. You could switch to a newer 24v 8.3 and convert it over to mechanical injection (been done on YouTube), but at that point if changing engines just go with something stout like an ISX, Series 60, etc....
I hear you. I have a tow bar, and keep it on board at times, soon permanently. If I ever have to get my 8.3 towed home by WildChild467's 135hp LDT powered M35a2 (lives close), that will be a difficult phone call to make.
Congrats again on your quick find and resolve.
sorry to hear about your news. I'd let it sit and then take an oil sample from the drain plug. At this point I would drain oil, replace with a minimal amount (NAPA has Rotella on sale this month for $12.95 a gallon) , and then check oil pressure with a known good mechanical gauge. Leak check...
Agree, they are a specific fit and use deal. I've seen them sit at a scrap yard for months with no buyers, then be cut up. Kind of like tractors, the smaller ones can be more versitile and valuable. A 20,000lb one is worth twice that.
Yes, stock 60a model. Mine tested to deliver over 60a at idle and over 80a at speed. The 8.3 engine starts so quickly, very little energy is pulled from the batteries, even if using only 2, so recharge is quick and easy. As long as you have batteries less than 5 years old, with no additional...
Is that the 60psi pressure switch for the warning bell? Would be my guess, has wires on the harness and plugged into air system.
4x I blame you for my spending of $440 today for a brand new Volvo 8181250 full size 14L charge air cooler, same one you installed.
I drove my 925A2 over a car, and when the front wheel went atop the car roof, and I looked back and saw all 4 rear wheels still on the ground providing traction and stability, it made sense to me to be a fascinating design feature.
The rear of a conventional M939 cab is supported in the center...
Leave the cap loose/off, let it boil, it will not exceed 212F. Keep adding water. Change the stat when you get there. It should be fine and not need fan if moving briskly. Buy a 12v electric fan and strap it to the front of the radiator, run the wires back to one battery, run it...
If it is just a fan issue, you should be fine, just get on the road and drive at a good rate of speed. It it is a thermostat, grab one from a store and head there with some jugs of water and tools. I don't see it being harder than either of these.
This may not work for us. There is no down leg to support the flow to the trans cooler. Once it arrives, I will better assess, but tables have turned on it. Also, it may heavily interfer with the A/C bracket I crafted.
I recently discovered the 8.3L was equipped with a factory coolant filter integrated into the thermostat housing on some applications. I have ordered one from eBay, and will try it. From a quick visual, it looks like it will fit, we'll see. Notice the horizontal filter behind and above the...
I don't sell Chinese componentry. I can supply the source via PM for those interested in such. I only sell genuine because I don't want to run a warranty return department. My stuff goes out, works hot, cold, underwater, and 100% of the time, and never comes back. Every one of them. The...
