    Working on the M1078 LMTV

Mark, you already have the coolest LMTV... Very soon you will feel it on the inside! Thanks for all the documentation. I'm taking great interest in keeping up on your repairs and findings. This will be a "go to" thread for all new M1078 owners.

    Underbody Protection Kit

I'm sure there is a reason for that spiderweb of bars, but I think that thing could hold you up some if trying to slip over solid objects. I understand the benefits of it being open (for mud/water) and not a smooth sheet of steel, but man-oh-man, I can see that thing hooking on a rock and not...

    HMMWV anti theft devices?

This is probably the best idea I've seen. Unattended is not good no matter what electrical or mechanical trickery is devised. If they can't get it running or tow it away, they will take things loose and sell pieces! I wish I were closer to you! Calling all SS in AZ?

Made new mud flaps for LMTV

Very nice! I read your blog and subscribed.

    New to the HMMWV club!

Yeah, take a look at your pins down by the attachment to the bumper/frame. They may be missing or worn.

    HMMWV'S Sold 3854 111 left

I'm sure there's lots of speculation, but there are 108 on the docket for the month of July... I've got to believe the auctions aren't over this month.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Wow! Very nice. Can you elaborate on the bedside racks?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Nice, 3000gt! How's it running? I'll have to buzz you the next time I'm in Memphis. It looks like you've done quite a bit since you got it home.

    Military FLYER vehicle

Looks like a fun ride. Anyone know what engine and drivetrain is in there? Diesel?

Welcome aboard! As one famous SS member says, "find a bunk and stow your gear". Here is a link to the Member's Rides thread for MVRedneck: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?155760-My-53-and-CUCV And here is a sampling of photos MVRedneck posted there:

HMMWV 2 Man M998 cargo cover question. Anyone ever do a chop top on the cargo?

Thanks Action. Could it still be cut from the top and re-attached to retain the window in the correct spot?

HMMWV 2 Man M998 cargo cover question. Anyone ever do a chop top on the cargo?

Very nice! Definitely would do this if I landed a 2-man. Please document the steps taken and pitfalls if any are found. Since the rear flap with Poly window is a separate piece, couldn't you just cut the top off it so the bottom edge stays registered correctly for driver visibility? I could...

    24v Battery chargers

There's some really good info in this thread about charging through the slave port on MEP Gensets. I would think you could also do this through the slave port on a MV. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?139648-24v-charging-thru-slave-port&highlight=NOCO+genius I am working on a...

    Fan blades breaking

Thanks for the TM link Action. I was joking a bit with the soldier B comment. I should've used some emoticons. I edited my post to decribe better what I meant... No switch in the cab.

    Fan blades breaking

To answer the OP, there is no (electrical) fan disengagement like some other vehicles have. While the HMMWV is a well engineered and capable off road vehicle, it is not meant for "muddin". I'm sure the operators manual describes a well-thought out entry with spotters (soldier B & C) as well as...

    New M1078 owner in Florida

Very nice! I believe I saw that one for sale on the popular auction site. I thought the price was right and was impressed with the work that owner had done to the truck. Didn't the truck already have quite a bit of insulation/sound mat installed? I'm surprised the noise and heat is still as much...

    hmmwv tachometer installation

Wagnum, here is part of the description from the first post: One wire (assuming red due to process of elimination) is for keyed power. The other should tie into another gauge light wire to provide illumination. Blacks are are ground and he used the other colors for tach pulse signal. I would...
