I wish I could see one of these close up... It seems like we should be able to find a similar handle from a civvy vehicle and source them in parts yards. We just need to find one that pulls the same way and then work on modifying the internal levers to hook up.
Heck I'd even consider cutting a...
Are there any thoughts about lowering the starting price? I saw one last week starting at $500. Was that a typo? I think the final sale price was still about the going rate.
I really like the look of hardtop over the cab (4 man passenger) area only. Are the hard tops easy to find without all the slant back parts? Any one know a rough cost on the hard top piece? It looks like it would be easy to make, but I have no facilities available for that type of fabrication.
Interesting! That shows a shorter air intake as well... There was another thread here discussing the possibility of shortening the intake for a camper build. The photo above tells me S&S at least built them that way on the LVAD version.
I saw this on an "e" site and have been confused by the cab. It appears the whole thing can fold to reduce height. Also has a two-piece windshield. Is this the "airlift" cab I've read about? I can't imagine you wouldn't have more rattles when in operation with a setup like this.
You are still getting the truck, right? I understood you message to say the recovery was off due to wife's answer and you found shipping for it anyway.
I'm not sure what you consider a good rate, but Rounders Logistics (a forum member and vendor) has been very competitive on other quotes I've entered. They have a nice price estimate page with all these vehicles in their database. Here is a screen shot.
I have no affiliation with...
Is anything with the gov ever that exacting? I'd be surprised if there wasn't some fine print reading something like "the first 4,000". Then there's the next 4,000... A quick Google search shows AM General has built something like 281,000 total since 1984. With the replacement vehicle looming on...
You could go ahead with your purchase and then list the extras in the Classified section. You'd probably get more traffic there. Guys with other types of vehicles may also be interested and more likely catch a classified ad over your post here in the HMMWV section.
Are the little tabs in photo #3 meant to be pried up beside the tightened bolt head to "lock" it? It seems to me to be the only purpose for that thin piece of stamped metal that goes under the bolts. That way they won't back out. I just love the double and triple redundancy that is in military...
Wow. I'd like to see more photos of the area between the bed and cab. That service body must be shorter than the standard bed leaving more room in there. Is the generator a military MEP-8xx unit?
