seriously, i think a lot of issues come from the droop setting of the ip. it has a very large effect on very low rpm torque. i used to start in 3rd with the 3208 cat with almost no clutch slippage when on level roads, but it had 600+ ft lbs torque.
and they say to use 90 wt oil also, but i wouldn't. the army is assuming worst case and driver can't think, i.e. loaded and off road. manual was probably written for gasser and never changed.
non turbo should make little black smoke when just running at 45 mph, however when pulling it will make quite a bit. adding a turbo will improve fuel milage and clean up the exhaust but with the fuel turned up for max power it will still really smoke when working
RE: 2nd gear
2nd gear is the preferred starting gear unless you are loaded. it your truck does not have any torque at those low rpms there is something wrong with the pump adjustment, and i have seen many that needed adjusting. starting in first is bad for the transmission because it is very...
high output head?? won't work. you can only inject so much fuel and the stock head does that already. the ip head plunger is the pump and the pressure is set by the nozzle, but not by the size of the holes. it has a needle valve with a very strong spring. usually 2800-3000 psi to lift the needle...
FT, uh, no. the ip head is everything all in one. pressure, timing, flow, delivery. the rest of the 'pump' is just support. advancer and govenor which can be compensated for even if they were worn. if you have a good ip head you will have all you need. used pumps seem to go for about $250 which...
that's for a reman. there has been a 'new' pump on e-bay for $4500. yes i know it is never going to sell. why would anyone want a new, rebuilt, or used complete pump anyway?? all you need to do is replace the ip head, it's the only part that fails.
problem is that most people simply aren't up to doing the work required. most probably don't even check for rusted lines or rotten hoses and if they have to add fluid every few months, that's ok with them. the people on the forum who can do a dual upgrade mostly already have. i put dual circuit...
i was wondering what events this year within 500 miles of baltimore are worth the drive? my main interest is the m-35, don't need any parts, just looking to meet other crazy people.......
i am planning on being there on sat if anyone is interested in driving the new overdrive transmission. also if anyone in the baltimore area wants to go i will have an empty seat.............
