Look up my protective control box thread and follow the schematics to bypass that piece of crap.

If a bearing was going, typically the sound would get LOUDER when you rev the engine. I think Cam is bang on. Check mounting brackets and see if the alternator is firmly anchored at front AND back.
Gamble,
Sometimes people back out due to technical issues, and sometimes they back out due to the way the customer presents himself.
Carefully consider the approach you took. Be introspective.
I will help as best I can.

I drove highway speed and wow, didn’t need noise canceling headphones. Hits 60 comfortably on flat roads. I didn’t push faster yet. Feels like she wants to hit at least 65 easily. Engine noise is markedly improved. Shifting is comfortable. Crisp not harsh, but I designed it that way.

Sorry, I assumed incorrectly that you lived on the farm. For those distances you're absolutely going to be happier with a 4 speed.
Added bonus... You now will have a PARK gear, so no more E-brake and no more chocks on the wheels.
Either 4L80e or 700R4 is awesome.
I went 700R4 (765R4) as it is...
I would say 24 hours work. Not one day... 24 solid work hours. I went level 4. You don’t need that. Level 2 is fine. If you are just staying on the farm with no highway then don’t bother. If you plan on Highway then this is a great idea.
There is definitely some fab work.
If it only happens when you start the vehicle on cold days, the PCB or EESS might be cycling the glow plugs. That temporarily consumes power and the Voltage drops into the yellow. It can cycle on and off for a few minutes with some units, and when she warms up the Voltage returns to green and...
It is you looking a gift horse of over $1000 in the mouth.
That is a NATO power cable that allows you to jump or get jumped from a 24V vehicle with a NATO plug m($100-$200), AND a very expensive spare EESS ($800-$1000 if it works) that allows you to power up the vehicle and activate the glow...
There are two choices... a 4L80e that requires a control box... RWH and 86humv can probably set you up with that, BUT you need different drive shafts and a 12 V source...
There is the 700R4 that I went with and so did Infidel... Mechanical so no voltage issues. Drive shafts stay the same BUT if...
Juan, the pintle extension is closer to the lateral mounting hardware so I’m not sure I need an airlift reinforcement plate.
RWH and 86HUMV, what are your thoughts?
Tranny is in. Problem is that the alternator mounting tang was cracked, and it explains my loose belts. Lots of dirt in the cracked tang. This was NOT my mechanic's fault as the crack is old. Someone forgot to use the spacer when re-assembling. Probably the genius I bought the rig from. Just...
She is in the shoppe getting the new 765R4, 4 speed shifter with shift down cable, and electric knock-off doors.
FINALLY!
Can't wait to be able to drag race (and beat) slugs and snails.
Not sure if I will keep or sell the AMG "X" doors. If the local film company wants to use my rig, I guess...
