Sent my rig in for:
4 speed 765R4 (700R4 upgraded variant) installation, along with new electric imitation X-door installation, rear Airlift-bumper installation, pintle extension, and assessment for lifting the frame 2" to allow install the Whipple AND assessment for installation of the Red-dot...
Not sure what you're worried about. Mine makes the same sounds in and out of gear.
In gear the engine gets loaded with forces against the torque converter and clutch plates . It slows down and needs more fuel to rotate while also loading the torque converter and transmission components. Perhaps...
Guys, this is the same unit used on 6.2 and 6.5 marine applications, and was sold for the H1 crowd for 2 years until the turbo units made it to the civilian world. It is robust, predictable, and will do what I need at highway speed. It is set for 9PSI at maximum boost.
Not worried about off the...
I never said it would on level (terrain). Uphill on mountain passes is an issue for n/a engines.
The supercharger will keep air pressure and oxygen availability more constant while going up hill in mountains, allowing me to maintain speed uphill in air rarefied elevations.
Acceleration and...
I live at sea level and I need to go up and down steep mountains to go skiing and river kayaking and such. Diesel engines hate thin air. Turbos and superchargers make up for thinner atmosphere and allow the engine to function at higher altitude and at sea level. This way I won't be forced to...
I am in contact with a company specializing in superchargers AND I'm considering thicker copper head gaskets to diminish compression ratio slightly.
A concern is the woodruff key (or whatever they call it) and the short harmonic balancing bolt that will need attention. I will probably use a...
Just purchased and received a Whipple [EDIT - supercharger]. Yes that unobtainium Whipple I have drooled over for a few years now, and no I'm not planning to TP my Slantback.
Anyone have experience installing these and then turning up the IP to allow proper fuel delivery?
[EDIT - Standard...
The Tile device with the free app is a cheap version of Lojack.
A vehicle lock holding the shifter in "Reverse" will prevent ignition and theft.
Angry dogs and such are great deterrents too. ;-)
Holy resurrection Batman! Trying to squeeze a sale out of a 2 year old thread! Nice.
You guys realize the OP bought the HMMWV, shipped the HMMWV, legally exported/imported the HMMWV, now drives the HMMWV, and occasionally posts about issues with his HMMWV?
Diesel engines and trannies with computers...Awesome. :/
I hate Cummins conversions but a mechanical Cummins makes more and more sense when you see just how much wiring and reprogramming is needed with a Dumamax/Allison conversion.
Thanks for posting. Really amazing stuff you're doing...
It is true, and is a big discussion in places like IH8MUD where the Diesel motors use 24 Volt systems.
A "solargiser" will help.
On this site, milcommguy sells 'em. So do many site sponsors.
milcommguy's prices are super reasonable, if he still has them in stock.
Prices on FleaBay are high.
Mogman :
We could fix this more easily.
Come to Brooklyn, and I can fix your bone on bone knee.
Parts are readily available and it would take about an hour.
Of course you can get pics for posting on the “What have you done today” forum, or perhaps the “Restoration and Paint” forum. Depending...
1 or 2 6x2's under the jack? 1 or 2 6x2's on the jack lifting surface? Borrow a jack for free from one of the local car care chains that advertise free loaner tools?
The HMMWV is designed to be heavier. The de-mil process leaves the heavy springs in a vehicle that becomes underweight in may cases.
Makes for a hard ride.
LonWon just swapped new springs and CEPEK shocks. You should watch his thread.
I don't mind a hard ride but I don't crawl. My vehicle...
