Just got a report in that the p/n I have posted here for the civilian alternator bracket for the Cummins 250 (855) engine is a no-fit situation. My sources may be incorrect. Can anybody else confirm this either way? Thanks in advance, I want to take down or correct errant data if so.
Good thing you are not handler of the air impact on any NASCAR pit teams, it is taking you a month to put LED tail lights on. Quit working on Skeletor's lawnmower and let us know what's up with this snorkel, Cletus.
Unlabeled and unpainted switch/light/diag panel, along with the use of a store bought curved exhaust pipe as a radiator hose adapter indicate it is not mass production. 260hp is only 20 more, nothing to get that excited over vs being kind of hacked into there, just my opinion. Cool to see...
I make and sell an A/C compressor bracket for the 8.3L serpentine belt system. I don't have easy and close access to a Cummins 250 with military accessory drive on the front to fab one. We do have a 505hp 855 in a standby generator at my work but I don't think I could use that as a template...
Threadjack: I've never heard of one with a manual either. I have had a few people saying yes there was in the early years of them, but it still doesn't make sense to me.
OK. Zip tie the shut off lever into the full retracted (up) position and try again. The fuel shut off is weak on even the slightest discharged batteries, even when the engine is still cranking fine.
Have you changed your soft fuel lines from the tank to the filters/pump? They are a known...
Electric pump on an 8.3L is peculiar to begin with. What is the "awesome pressure" of the fuel during a hot no-restart situation as measured after your engine mounted fuel filter and before the injection pump? Diesel fuel gets very warm and almost hot during use since it is recirculated. I...
Instructions say "Not for use with IGM's H1's"
Really, it doesn't matter or care what it is connected to. Send me a pic of a stock alternator or the measurement span between the 2 front ears, and I can tell you if it will fit or not.
I'd go max biocide, change the filters several times as needed until they clear up, and call it done. But I have no experience with it, but from a biology perspective, you'll need to kill all of it for it not to easily come back, just like penicillin works. Take all the pills they prescribe...
Same pony, different tricks. Showing both pulleys, serpentine and double-V, either could be used, they both fit on the same. You can also likely have a machine shop bore your stock pulley to be a 7/8" slip fit, as these and most other alternators do not use a keyed shaft. They simply rely...
I'm doing some benchmarking, and recently ordered and obtained a brand new genuine Delco 24V alternator through our local heavy duty International truck dealership which is a Delco parts distributor. Being 24v in the US, they said only 1 existed in their entire distribution network and it took...
As a quick test you could jumper +24v to the alt terminals that is supposed to have it, taken right from the alternator B+ connection. I'll be selling mine soon if you decide to replace it with a stock one.
I agree with Grendel. Where are you getting your hp and torque numbers from? For a diesel, those two don't seem to be in the same ballpark. You should probably be researching transmission mfg specifications online. Nothing here is built to that level.
Jeff, don't forget to send my lockers !!!
I pushed a little to see who had what under the hood. Was glad to see Techno got emotional about it. I respect that highly. I just have no tolerance for PC. I have always said there is politically correct, and then there is directionally correct...
You will. People can't give away running NHC's for free. Swamp's video showed an 8.3 taking a 250 for a walk. 250 engine can't pull a string out of a cat's a$$.
I'm in, but for an equal weight vehicle. I'm pretty sure I would lose a tug to a 250, especially after seeing them pull stumps on YouTube, but at least I'd be getting double the fuel economy while doing so! Ah hah! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQMnG1-drnQ.
I like the broke comedian part. I've been wanting to heckle a few more of you, but could not feel if you could handle it. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more humor here. But, anybody that throws around the short bus made the list. I found a pic of the NHC-250 engine. Slower than snake...
It is recommended that little boys stay out of the big boy room. Any one of us can drag you down the street sideways. Your engine label reads "Medium Heavy Duty", not vice-versa. That means, "I want to be heavy duty, but I'm not.". 8.3 for the win. I called in backup, they will be here any...
