The 2.8 v-6 has a different bell housing entirely and will not work. Don't waste your time.
Edit: if you can find one that went behind a 4.3 liter v-6 it will have the proper bell housing.
Looks like I'll be leaving later tomorrow instead of early in the morning. Just haven't had time to do all that I needed to do to get ready. Worked on the deuce all day today and I still have to change out a steer tire before I leave. I also have to go to town and get a few more weld on tiedowns...
What I worry about is the bed hold down bolts shearing off and the bed coming forward and cutting me in half along with the rest of the cab. Glad it wasn't too serious. I'm with the other guys in saying you have a bent dogbone or dislodged spring. That stuff gives a lot more than the axle tubes.
I can't make it Jeff. Turns out that I have to leave early to make it up to Georgia to deliver some goods. I'll make it out one of these times I swear.
Changed fuel filters and installed a coolant filter kit, which I built a nice bracket for. Mounts right in front of the air filter box and bolts to the intake elbow.

I do believe you may have illuminated my issue. My rocker shafts are installed with the oil ports facing down towards the heads. Apparently the builder didn't know or didn't care about the orientation of the installation. Good job on the wrench by the way, looks heavy duty. Interesting to point...
I did tell Jeff that I might not make it. Looks like I can't. Yes Gimp I could probably do that. Remember that I'm driving the deuce though, so slow going you know.
If you install an exhaust cutout close to the engine end of the system you will have more room to turn up the fuel when you are towing if you open the cutout. It will be louder though of course. The larger, or shorter your exhaust system is the better it keeps the egt down. Just an option for...
