    sounds like you have mouse nests in the intake header. has the engine ever been open to rodents / insects while in storeage or while something was apart?? something is blocking the intake air. it would not hurt to put a healthy dose of fuel conditioner in it.

    the bottom adj is just an eccentric, you may need to turn it further or with the drum off to move the ends of the shoes togeather

    having the boots clean and dry will help a lot. lots of rags, wipe all grease off everything, and pull the boot around spindle groove. usually takes a couple of tries.

    that is why there is a specific puller designed for pittman arms.... glad to hear you are on a roll. now to get the box out. you can pull the box cover and slide the shaft out to discover what is wrong with the box with it still in the frame.

    connect the battery to the big term on the selenoid that still has the motor wire on it. no load probably won't pull more than 100 amps

    well, i found one trans for a very attractive fee......... and am still looking for some others to convert to .71 od when my gears are made, which i hope will still be this year. if someone near maryland has a spare trans they are willing to part with let me know.
