Since the GRM-55 wasn't designed to be used with the 77 that may be your problem. There are enough internal differences between the radios that a test that works on a 25 may not work on a 77.
Sorry, my error. This part is referred to as the wheelhouse and I would recommend taking a good set of measurements before your remove the old one. That large hole in the rear crossmember (D pillar) is not an alignment hole. Other than that it's a pretty straightforward job. I would recommend...
This is actually a duplicate post to one I put up in the HMMWV forum but I thought I would put it here in Electrical also. This is a link repost about what those little number tags in your wiring are meant to tell you. For you new guys getting involved for the first time I hope it helps answer...

Here's a link to a handy chart to print out and have available that describes exactly what a wires purpose is in a wiring harness:.

Generally the command box (C2297) was used in armored vehicles so the ground guide could direct the driver when they were backing up the vehicle. The rear phone box is the only accessory that can trigger the call lamp on the 2297.
Where's the speaker for the 442 mounted?
One of the reasons the tunnel gets so bloody hot is the closeness of the right hand exhaust manifold. Because the engine is offset to the right there's no space to do much of anything on that side, especially at the back of the block. I've had 2 exhaust manifolds split into 3 pieces because of...
Discussions that almost always comes up at military vehicle gatherings are "how did they do this," "what's this hole for," and "they never did that." Usually followed closely by "that's not the right paint color!"
In the military there's nothing outside the boundaries. Believe me, if it...
Yesterday four HMMWV owners went up to Jacques Littlefields Pony Tracks ranch for possibly one of the last viewings of his marvelous tank collection. It's been 2 years since the auction but there are still some beautiful tanks in the Museum and on the property. Paul Politi, Cam Koskens, Zee...
Jericho, The VRC-12 family of radios are all 150hz tone squelch radios and amateur repeaters need CTSS tones to open them up so the answer to your question is no, they won't work with civy repeaters.

My '77 890 was purchased by the USAF Vandenburg and spent it's entire life there. It was a local purchase and came with a 360 CID engine and all of it's military and W200 markings. The truck has an incorrect emissions sticker on the hood that won't work as shown. The vacuum amplifier is...
The push button light switch was one of those "retro-steps" for the M series trucks. From day 1 they have caused nothing but headaches and trouble and even when they do work you have to look at them to turn them on. Not a good idea in any military vehicle when travelling down the road. I...
I did this upgrade about 20 years ago on a California local purchase 890 crew cab by the USAF. The truck is actually a W200 but it has all the correct data plates and a California emissions sticker for it's 360 engine. Unfortunately the sticker is wrong and won't work the way it's got the...
Better check the power requirements for your corn feeder before buying a converter so you'll have enough power to run it. The last thing you want to do in a HMMWV is to start a fire with wiring that's too small a gauge or a converter that can't handle the load!
Bite the bullet and replace the light switch. They aren't all that expensive especially when you consider the vehicle it's going into. Just remember to disconnect the batteries when installing it whether it's the three lever switch or the push button variant..
From your post I think you need...
When I installed my radio shelf I used some 1/4-20 thumbscrews on the ventilation duct and 3/8" aircraft quick release pins for the mounting feet. I can pull the entire radio rack out in about 3 minutes to access the engine cover.
The latest update on the Racal headset project. The adapter box works exactly as intended and wired as explained above. The pot that was added for reducing mic gain did nothing with the 8 headsets we tried it with and was removed. The ANR circuit kicks in when anything over 9 volts is applied...
