Your 1965 101 will probably have Budd 5 lug wheels on it left over from M37 days. The A2 series trailers all got the 8 lug wheels and axles and the surge brake conversion to tow behind the CUCVs. When they began converting the A2s to A3s they added fender extensions and a widened drop axle to...
I've recommended the switch to LEDs for a couple of years now and always tell folks to use 10-30v LEDs. This simplifies things if you need to pull your trailer with either a military or a civy vehicle. You don't have to go back in and change lamps between the two trucks. When searching for...
I've got to agree with the no pressure washer comments here. If there's stitching anywhere near where your pressure washing it'll just blow it away. Find a good cleaner and then put some elbow grease into it. We used to call this material Herculite in the Navy and the stuff lasts darn near...
Do a search for axle banding tools or CV axle bands and you'll get a batch of them showing up. I got mine on the E place but any good auto parts store should have them. I always buy the Dorman stainless bands at Napa.
What RT do you actually have? It's either an RT-524 or an RT-246. There is no such thing as a 546. Whatever is missing can be replaced and the radios can be made functional again providing the wiring harness wasn't hacked and there's no corrosion inside. Both are the kiss of death for these...
I had a feeling that the SC stood for Signal Corps but beyond that we're still in a mystery world. I think I will call Fort Monmouth on Monday and see if they can shed some light on the search.

I've been looking online for some explanation for researching part numbers that start with SC-A, SC-B, SC-C, etc that are commonly found on items in radio installation kits. You also see this on electronic components. Is there a method of tracking this stuff back to either a where used...
I just replaced the 6TL batteries in my HMMWV with a set of Duracell Gold, Group 24F batteries from Batteries Plus. I've had this truck for some time now and have always used the military batteries before but the last 3 sets that I got from Interstate only lasted an average of 26 months and...
After some more testing we determined that the electret microphones used in these headsets needs a small bias voltage on them before they'll work. The older military radios don't provide that voltage so we're going to have to come up with a simple circuit that will provide it. Merely...
Keep in mind that the CUCV uses the same 6.2 engine as the HMMWV and other than it being a 24v vehicle it's a basic Chevy pickup. So why wouldn't a standard starter work as long as it's 24 volts?
Violent shaking can be caused by a lot of different things but usually the power train isn't what causes it. As a new member to the HMMWV forum I'm guessing you may also be a new HMMWV owner. I'll reiterate downloading the manuals is something mandatory to understanding your truck. The other...
Have you bothered to take a look at the drive line E Brake? If it's overtightened it's a huge drag on the power train. On a level surface back off the brake adjuster on your E Brake and see if that makes a difference.

I wired my reverse lights to the gear position indicator lights in the shifter for 2 reasons. First that the wire is already there and second that if I don't want them to come on all I have to do is turn off the dash lights at the main light switch.
The problem with the lenses melting has to do with the heat (power) produced by the bulb. Since they are in a closed housing all of that heat is confined and melts the lenses. That problem is eliminated by using LEDs or low power lamps. The problem with low power lamps is their light output is...
Pin out for the Racal CX 14379:
Looking at this schematic I just realized that pin E is the mike return that may not be connected in the older radios. I need to try connecting E to A and see what happens then.

Here's what I've found out about Bailout cables and some new headsets I just bought to try with the HMMWV radios:
This is the original CX 86508/GR or CX 10766/GR bailout cable, "9v battery" style connector, dual UG229 5 pin audio connectors
This was replaced with an SM-D-037478 cable with...
I just found a bag of new bailout cables with the dual connector setup on them that were for the VIC-1 system that I'm going to try. I'll post the results when I do.
As the long term president of a military vehicle club I've found that if you want something done then DO IT. Don't simply post an idea, create what you want and then let it grow with inputs from others. As a moderator you can pick and choose what works and what doesn't and keep the irrelevant...
