What are the loops attached to the underside of body for radio cables called?

Do a Google search for "P clamps" and you'll find them in every size you could need. Kurt KG6KMJ

    PRC-117 vehicle mount wanted

No, I didn't bid on that radio because it was the older VHF only 117. I have a couple of the base/amplifier units but only one of the actual vehicle mounts and so I'm looking for another.

    PRC-117 vehicle mount wanted

Does anyone have any idea where I can find the mount for a Harris PRC-117? Why are these things so scarce? TIA, Kurt

    Rear Seat install question

The fasteners are standard DZUS fasteners and are common aircraft parts. There are normally 2 fasteners on a wire rope keeper attached to the seat back. That partition is called a cargo divider and is not part of the standard HMMWV configuration. It was added to the 2 door trucks above the...

Vic 3 headsets; Which do you prefer?

Right now there are some David Clark headsets up for auction in either single or double earpiece models that were used by the Air Force. From experience I can tell you that these are some of the nicest headsets out there and they're priced right in the same range as the Bose or Racals.

    Parking Brake Lever

Screw down the knob on the end and then take up the cable slack on the other end. There is an adjustment on the link from the handle where it goes through the B pillar and then splits out to the rear calipers. Take a look at pages 15 and 16 of MWO 9-2320-280-35-1 and you can see where the...

    HF Radios for HMMWV

"Adding the amplifier but still using a military whip adds another complication though, matching the antenna to high power." The Shakespear AT-1011 is rated for 1 Kw. Do you need more than that? http://shakespeare-ce.com/military/product/120-55-at-1011u-antenna/

For those of you looking for a good battery charger at a good price for 24 volt syst.

If you were relying on the Solargizer to keep your batteries charged you were in error. Solargizers are battery maintainers, not chargers. They are designed to keep the batteries from self discharging by flashing off the small conductive hairs that grow between the plates, not to actually...

    HMMWV Grounding Kit Install

I did this modification years ago and have never seen a lot of the problems mentioned here. I used a very flexible 8 gauge wire to build the harness. I wouldn't use solid wire as vibration will break it in time. One of the weakest points in the HMMWV body grounding is the ground behind the...

    998 Seat ?

There are plenty of original HMMWV seats available out there. Why would you want to install something that needs to be modified to work?

    Racal Headsets

I'm aware that they work just fine on VIC3 systems but I don't have an intercom in the HMMWV and would like to use them with other radios. We use them in a friends HMMWV all the time on his VIC3. I have a fairly large collection of military HF, VHF, and UHF transceivers some of which have the...

    Miltope MSD V2

I've been trying to get one of these going for some time now without much luck. I've tried loading an OS onto the HDD and then installing in in the computer, NG. I've tried using the internal CD to load an OS and it seems to load fine but then doesn't see the pointer after the system boots up...

    radio equipment

FKAM, the 1439 never had a crypto card in it like the 1523s did. But the question still remains, do you want a thousand dollar radio to talk to a tractor? LOL BTW, I have the amps new in the box.

    Miltope MSD V2

They're just small IDE drives in the ones that I have. Do yourself a favor and instead of buying another HDD buy a solid state replacement that will hold up better to rough handling. You can get solid state replacements already configured for IDE applications that will plug right in.

    Racal Headsets

Has anyone had and luck using the RA5000/6400 Racal headsets that are coming available now on their military radios? I have friends that are using them successfully with VIC-3 intercoms but I'm not having much luck using them with either the 524 or the 1439.

    VRC Antenna Differences

The AT-1729 antenna uses the MX-6707 base and is used with the VRC-12 family of radios. It uses the antenna base with the 3/4" thread on it (the smaller one). These were used with radios like the RT-524 and 246. The AS-3900 (and A) uses the larger 1" thread and is used with the more modern...

    radio equipment

If your just chatting between trucks around the farm you don't want military radios. To start with when they're in the vehicle and people only see the antenna is it worth paying a thousand dollars for a radio that won't do anything more than a $50 CB set? And when they fail you aren't going to...
