I saw it-I am 99% sure that harness is for early multifuels without turn signals. I'll bet dollars to donuts there are a big pair of cannon plugs on the engine side of the firewall above the steering column.
If we're talking about a 465 multifuel and it's a TD block, then post #4 in this thread has all the info you need:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/88921-multifuel-head-job.html
Deuces used to have the 25amp generator, with it's separate voltage regulator on the firewall.
At some point, it was updated to the modern 60A internally regulated alternator.
I don't see the cannon connectors on the firewall, so it's hard to say if your truck had the generator.
The...
I forgot to mention-if the 1D and 1C designation has something to do with turbos, how do you explain non-turbo LD465-1C and LD465-1D engines (Non turbo)?
No, there are conflicting opinions. Neither I or the authors of the wikipedia page offered any kind of documentation to back up their...
No.
1C and 1D engine designations have nothing to do with the turbo.
There are 1C engines with C and D turbos.
There are 1D engines with C and D turbos.
The 1C and 1D designation primarily refers to head gaskets (1D gets the upgraded gaskets). C and D turbos are whistler and non whistler...
Ok, I am going to lock this thread after I post this, as this stuff has been covered so exhaustively there is just no point in doing it again.
haveittoplease, welcome to the site. We're glad to have you!
We've been collecting information about these trucks for the better part of a decade and...
There are multiple threads out there covering the two issues related to this:
1. The axles are designed to move left and right somewhat. Go look at the pocket that the end of the leaf springs sit in. The leaf spring doesn't sit it in the pocket "snug"-there is room for the leaf spring to...
This is a profound amount of work just because 4th and 5th are inverted. The reason they're inverted is explained here:
This thread, specifically post #5: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/4190-about-our-transmission.html
I have surfed this forum for 7+ years and I have seen every...
It is indeed M38A1. They have replaced the blackout lights in the grille with aftermarket turn signals, a super common modification on A1's.
The grille is identifiable as A1 but the deeply inset headlight buckets. CJ5's aren't set so deep.
I also do not think CJ's had hinged grilles, but...
I've used 27 and 28, never encountered a crank with a groove bad enough for the sleeve.
Neither one leaks.
Both of the ones I removed were TIGHT on the crank. Never seen a seal that tight. Guess I'm used to smaller engines where the seal doesn't fit so tight.
