Is this clutch replacement related to the rear main seal replacement?
Is this a new clutch?
If it's new and the flywheel was resurfaced and there is a gap between the throwout bearing and the fingers, it's either a defective pressure plate or it isn't torqued down to specs (unlikely-I seem...
Please see post #1 for additional information about volunteer needs, swap meet spaces and MKT needs.
EDIT: Florida convoy thread link corrected, links to correct thread now.
God, that guy was the worst.
Forgot the graph.
Boys, this is the year we break 100 vehicles. 100 powered military vehicles.
And I mean it, because if we don't, I am cancelling the 2013 event. rofl
I believe the plan at this point is to pay as you go. I know SCSG-G4 and Wreckerman have discussed alternative mechanisms in the past, but at this point, I believe it will be the same as last year.
Ok folks, this is the thread for the 12SSSGR where you can post up what you are looking for and what you have for sale or trade.
Here's what we're after:
Looking to buy:
Left and right Deuce door glass (M39/M809/M44/M939??)
Super nice 1 piece vinyl cargo cover, either in green or 3 color...
I am going ahead and creating the Florida convoy thread for the 12SSGR. We always have a huge number of FL attendees, so I create the thread ahead of time.
Anyone from other states who thinks they have enough attendees to build a convoy, let me know and we'll discuss creating a thread for your...
I am happy to announce that the time has come for the 2012 Steel Soldiers Georgia Rally info thread.
Please read ALL of this 1st post-it should answer 99% of the questions about the rally.
Also, please do not create additional rally threads. If you feel there is a need for a separate rally...
1. Every M44/M39/M809 I've turned wrenches on was SAE.
2. Every CUCV I've worked on was a mix of both metric and SAE, as was my Father's civvy Chevy pickup from the late Eighties or early Nineties (can't remember).
3. No HMMWV experience.
4. You need to own both metric and standard if you're...
The metal wiper motors are the only way to fly, unless you have the 24V A3 upgrade.
My '87 came with them and I have scrounged a set for the '67 that will go in it when I am done.
Between the metal motors and the civvy arm/blade upgrade I did, the last thunderstorm I drove through actually...
Voice of experience says: I would not want to try a deuce tranny with a floor jack. 99% of the time, it would fall off the jack and that's assuming you had a jack tall enough.
The engine hoist or the factory GI hoist work much better and allow the safety of working above, vs. below the tranny.
This. It amazes me when I hear people talking about using their phones exclusively for the web. I just don't get it.
I use mine plenty-I mean, a LOT, but as a help, not replacement. Just the other day, I was in the parts house, remembered I needed wiper blades, got on SS, did a search...
I think you're only the second person on SS who has covered their wrecker in the "factory" way-I think we have a UK member with an 816 who had the right cover on his.
Probably not a bad idea just to keep the cables dry and the hoses from rotting (further).
On any gas engine, driveability issues are chased in the following order:
1. Ignition system up to specs. If it hasn't been "tuned" recently, then that means plugs, wires, points, condensor, rotor and cap. Only you (or an oscilloscope) can determine if you need to replace the expensive...
I look forward to seeing the pics-when we called them to verify, the sales person walked in the back, looked at it, told me it was the older 3 piece style, causing us to cancel the sale.
They shipped it anyway after I told them to cancel the sale, they picked it up via call tag this morning. I...
Is it the style with separate end flaps or the modern, 1 piece cover with the end flaps made as part of the cover?
Because that MS # comes back as this:
