I will be living here by fall. Woohoo! May can't work this year at all but maybe next.
86, I had 255/85R16s on an 86K30. Inner wheels were stock steel and outters were Alco rims. No rubbing at all. I had planned on 255s for my other truck. (Also CC rear) but might have had issues with this...
Tires are stock size 235/85R16. Factory dually wheels with no spacers. When I put the Duratracs on the back, I may need 1/4 inch spacer as the side bars might touch. The rear is the narrow cab/chassis one.
I should probably do a thread on some of the stuff I've done, it's quite unique but it's...
The truck is heavy, around 9000#. When I put the cab and chassis rear in I installed an add a leaf as well. Even with the add a leaf, it rides better than an empty pickup. There are some stretches of concrete freeway that tax comfort.
That fancy gauge is a used Garmin GPS I bought off eBay for...
I love your work ethic and determination. Slowly it comes together. I have the dual plan b mod (2 12v alts) and my gauge is just at the overcharge mark too. 3 years with no problems.
So today I took a little 726 mile ride in the "Bucket of Bolts" SECM with the trailer salad in tow. Transported personal items from S FL to my N GA retirement home. The SECM was converted from an M1008 and I don't know where to start on the trailer. Let's say it was purpose built from stuff...
Well, a few whiles back I converted my SECM to dual rear wheels. I just bought 2 new Duratracs for the front. Thanks Rick, they seem to be a real fine tire. Will know more tomorrow night, making a run up to N GA to drop off some stuff.
I had to grind some meat off the caliper. The M101A2 and A3 both have the small hub so that CUCV rims can be utilized. Ford or Dodge rims can generally be used on the CUCV of M101A2 and A3 as they have the bigger center hole. Even later model Duramax truck Alcoa rims can fit the M101s, member...
There may be a backspacing issue or just a different rim design. MWMules has a flight line van. After giving himself a flat at the GA Rally, a bunch of folks helped him swap out to a spare CUCV style rim and it locked up on the caliper. 2 minutes with my trusty cordless grinder and the necessary...
The only issue I've encountered running big guns off little air supply is that unless there is half inch from the tank to the gun, performance suffers. Most portable air tanks have a half inch bung. By teeing into that and using a short length of half inch hose, you have that initial volume that...
The trailers with the single wheel roll around easier than the one with crank up gear. Perhaps that was the DOD justification. I've had both. The one with the single wheel could be drug abut the yard by an ATV. Pointer on these, if doing it by yourself, when you Jack it up, hook it to the...
The poor fellers way to run a 1" impact is with an air pig. Basically a second tank with 1/2" fittings and hose to the gun. Truck or compressor air charges the tank.
Last year at the GA Rally there were folks seeking a geared lug wrench to remove a deuce tire (same size as 5 ton). I offered my cordless Milwaukee impact and got a little shrug and a reluctant yeah. Knocked off 5/of the 6. Now I have the fuel version and at 1000# feet of torque, I don't have...
Countermen are not what they used to be. For the most part, I don't trust them. I just looked up the parts on the NAPA website and found listings for everything. Search vehicle was 1984 Chevy Truck K30 and search terms were drag link and tie rod. My suggestion, don't give them a chance to screw...
To echo Chappy's sentiments, this will likely be a long term burden to deal with. Even if you can't pony up today, keep this thought alive for a later date. I know how generous we can be but in this case, we either need to pace ourselves or have a few of us "adopt" some of the Davis' burden in...
We may need a representative in the area to assist the family with Ed's motor pool so they know what they have and approximate worth if they need to sell some of it. I fret the idea of someone taking advantage of the Davis family during these difficult times.
