Lucas is how learned to wire a vehicle as well. That almost sounded like a praise of Lucas. I guess, "I learned how to rewire a vehicle the right way because it started out with a Lucas system" would be better.
It would be a good idea to remove the batteries and take every connection on the...
Pull the #1 plug wire at the plug. Take a civilian plug wire, cut off the ends and strip off the insulation an inch or so back on both ends. Fold the black wire in the middle back over the outer insulation. Stick one end in the plug and the other into the wire. Tape them together if you have...
Try to get a more specific diagnosis.
Goes into gear with the engine off, but won't with it running means clutch/pilot bearing issues. You can start it in neutral, get it warm, turn it off and then put the truck into low 1st, start it again to drive onto the trailer and turn it off to stop...
As explained above, it should be verticle. Put a level next to it and then compare it to the other side rear tire. Camber pull is normally a front tire condition, but it will be where the vehicle wants to go to the side with the most positive camber. If you left tire is leaned in and your...
Pull the rear drums and make sure the brake shoes are still anchored to the backing plates. Look for anything else wrong while in there and get back to us with more information if you can.
If you are going to have it apart for the radiator. Go ahead and do new upper and lower hoses, heater hoses, push on the freeze plugs with a screw driver looking for soft spots and for sure a new thermostat.
Does the cooling fan wobble front to back when you try to move it that way? If not...
1/4" drive flex joint socket with an extension as mentioned above. 11MM is the same as 7/16" when it comes to wrench sizes. You will probably have better luck looking for a small standard size specialty tool is why I mention that.
There is a member in Kingwood with a few M1009's and civi blazers, Ol Ag '89. He is a great guy that would probably show you all around one. My sister is in Magnolia and I drive my 1009 down there every now and then. Then there are the guys at the museum on Wallaceville road. They have just...
I forgot to add that when I put a new pump on my M1009 last fall, I put it in just a hair advanced. Had the no turn off condition as well until I swapped in the old cover. The thing is much louder at idle, lots more power and I haven't been above 18 mpg since either. Used to get 20-22. I...
Does it run louder or quieter than before? That is the best indicator of timing without the very hard to find and costly timing gear. Advance gives a bit more power and a lot more noise. By advanced, I mean the pump line is 1/16" to the drivers side of the line on the block. Not much does a...
Pull the speedo, oil the little flywheel on there and make sure it spins free of the needle. You will understand when you look at it. Hook it up to a drill and test it out. Most cordless drill will spin the needle up to 35 or so on low and around 80 on high. Go easy with the trigger on and...
We have had 4 gatherings in College Station over the last 2 years. That is only 60 miles from you. Interest fell away and we only had a few at our last event in March. There will probably be something on the weekend of the BMJP show the 3rd weekend of March next year. It just hasn't been...
Yes, or at least I have always pulled the wheel to do it. The metal arm that hooks onto the blinker switch needs to be pulled off and the wheel has to be gone to do that.
You can also use a screw driver on the top of the column between the wheel and the column. Push the pin back, turn the wheel and then repeat until it is steering the direction you want. Takes a while, but no special tools are needed and the truck is still all together.
I would suggest reading...
If you have the pump sitting like it would in the truck, nothing will pop out during a normal cover swap. Read the manual though. You have to slide the cover back in a bit or the truck won't turn off. Very easy swap to do in just a minute or so.
Yes, the spin on air filter is mentioned in the 5th update to the -20. You don't have that version?
That is what I get for trying to watch tv, talk to my son and listen to my wife while I am on the computer. Sorry.
Back to the original problem. The more you post, the more it seems you...
I really don't think the glow plugs are your main problem. A healthy 6.2 should fire up in less than 1 or 2 seconds. That is cold with a proper glow plug system or anytime it has been sitting after being run without the glow plugs coming on.
I would suggest a starter motor check, battery...
