Do what is called a "dry park check." Have the vehicle on solid pavement, put somebody behind the wheel as you lay down under the front end. Have them move the wheel sharply back and forth while you put your hand on every single connection of the steering linkage. You can feel slop before you...
Call the guy and ask him to not have it warmed up. You want it to be stone cold. Flip down the drivers sun visor and it tells you how to start it. Ask the guy to take you though how he does it.
5-10 seconds of glow plugs once the key is on.
It should start within .5-2 seconds of hitting...
Is it a constant 10 mph over or just fast at speed? All the time too fast and I would think somebody changed out the drive or driven gear for the cable in the tease. Sometimes too fast and jumping then I would suspect a bad cable or casing causing it to wind up. It is a 85 mph speedo, not a...
Those burned out woods really are freaky to drive through. Colton had a school tennis match a few weeks ago in Bastrop. The fire burned up to the edge of the courts. The green was gone from the concrete. Kind of weird.
Sorry I missed the BBQ. My Scouts were in the parade and flag deal...
I would suggest cleaning the contacts on that sensor. Pull the glow plug card and clean the contacts on it too. The -20 has a section on how to check that sensor and what Ohms it should spec out at.
A fully warmed up engine should lite off with less than a second of cranking up to an hour or...
Put a volt meter on the glow plugs and see that they are actually getting power when the glow plug light is on. Then, with the power lead off each glow plug. Use an Ohm meter to test the resistance from the power in blade to the threads. Should be 2-3 ohms. The -20 manual takes you through...
Cool, just 30 miles away. I couldn't make the Smithville event because I was in a parade and air port show here in Giddings last weekend. Driving the M35 down the hill into Smithville from Serbin is always a real thrill.
Where in Texas are you and which Buc-ee's did you get the picture from? I am sitting about 1 mile from the one on 290 in Giddings right now.
Welcome to the fun by the way. Which MVPA group?
Spray the nuts going into the cab with some kind of penetrating oil before you try taking them off. Those captured nuts in there are real hard to get at when you have to replace a broken bolt or spinning nut.
Here is a thread I did way back when about them...
When you swap out the starter relay, put a volt meter on the purple with white stripe wire. Turn the key to start and see if you get 12 volts on that wire. It sure reads to me as if your ignition switch isn't adjusted correctly or is just bad.
Fix the starter issues first. Then the glow...
I was going to do the ratchet strap idea when we first noticed how wide it was. I didn't because right now it fits and doesn't rub against anything. Gasser don't shake near as much as a multifuel, but they still aren't the smoothest vehicle going down the road. I figured the more distance...
TSC sells clamp on boat trailer front jack stands with wheels on them for around $30.00. I spent maybe 10 minutes mounting mine and love the ability to roll the trailer around without picking it up.
The folded up stock landing leg is now a great 5 gallon water jug holder.
That looks very interesting Tom. Thanks for the pictures.
I won't have all the pieces together for a replacement engine until August or so. I will pull it apart and try to figure out what killed the 396 then. Pictures and a full write up to follow in a few months.
Call down to the Elgin Vet or the vet over in Lexington. They will know who might be willing to sell just a few calves and can drop them off at your place.
6.2 engine still? Just buy a clutch for a 1985 K30 truck at your local auto parts store. That is the 4 speed out of a K30 you have in the back already, right?
That is his truck. He replaced the engine a few weeks ago after it has sat for a year or more. He pulled the winch to put on his bobbed M35. That gun ring was tan Friday afternoon. Him and his boys went to Lowes on the way to the air show, bought green paint, sprayed it in the parking lot...
Hmm, got a text last night from the fair people saying my trucks could not be used in any way shape or form due to insurance reasons. Then a text from the airport people wanting my trucks as part of a static display. No AVGAS. Oh well.
I didn't get the hood numbers on either. We actually...
