    M1009 no low beams!

Oh and I don't want to see any of the hi beams you guys are talking about at Temple next week from anybody. Except of course, the Heinikan girls like every year at Temple.

    M1009 no low beams!

Same, check the fuse panel for any loose fuses. Then check above the column for the actual hi beam switch. Make sure the plug is secure. If that doesn't work, pull the plug and hot wire the lights to verify the problem is there and not under the hood somewhere. Brown is power in, yellow is...

What does it take to stop a Pinz?

Looks like a fun time Timothy. Are the rear set of seats new? I like that. Put a lawn sprinkler under the truck and keep moving it around every few hours to help get all the gunk out from underneath.

    Doorless

I love the roadster doors on the M715. Lots more air in the summer and great visibility on the trails. However, as pointed out above. Stuff does tend to land on my left thigh. I got stuck behind a garbage truck on I-410 around San Antonio a few years ago. Some kind of really nasty smelling...

    My GMC, a little update

The best manual controller for a 6.2 glow plug system I have ever heard of is this: 8 second switch for police shot gun racks in police cars. Sermis installed one on his M725 when he put in the 6.2. It works great. Push the button, 8 seconds later it turns off and the plugs have done their...

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

It was getting expensive to feed Mark. However, the window in the side of the oil pan made the decision for me. Sorry I can't make the meeting tonight or the event this weekend. Scouts is keeping me very busy. I will be at Temple though. I don't think I ever even crawled under the M1010...

    Direct vs. Gear Reduction Starter

The direct drive 27MT was American made. The reduction gear 28MT was originally from Korea and now China. I have had two 27MT failures. The first time I had just gotten the truck and didn't know the glow plug card was not working right. I thought it was normal for 5-10 seconds of cranking...

    Failed Injector/s

A clogged return line on the IP will cause the engine to not run.

    CUCV alternator Problem

If the light went out with the plug on the side of the alternator pulled. That indicates a bad alternator. Have you put a voltmeter to the battery that alternator charges? With both leads on the post of that battery, you should have 12.6 engine off and 14.4 engine on. I hate to say this...

    CUCV alternator Problem

If your GEN 2 light is on, how are you getting voltage readings in the middle of the green on the gauge? Put a volt meter on each alternator and see what it is actually putting out. Also, once the glow plugs stop being used and the truck has been run long enough to top the batteries back up...

    Could I pull a pop-up camper behind a M1009?

As already stated. Biggest transmission cooler you can afford/fit, reciever hitch, brakes for the trailer and go. The M1009 pulls small trailers like that great. Just realize that anything sticking up into the wind is going to limit top speed a lot.

Electrical problems are starting to annoy me, help?

I just bent what was left of the ground tab over so it touches the bulb. Cheaper than buying a new one.

    Towing Question

I have done both a trailer and a flat tow M1009 recovery. The flat tow was by far the easiest for the entire trip. However, 7 hours sure is a long way to go empty just to realize 3 of the wheel studs on the drivers side front tire are missing, the steering tie rod is bent, a rear rim is...

    running rough

Glad I could help. Now that I am messing with my 3rd or actually soon to be 4th and 5th CUCV/CUCV6.2 in the last year or so. I have pretty much decided that most of the negative thoughts on the 6.2 can be traced back to two things. Glow plug controlers and IP's older than 5 years. A...

    Front spring over axle question

Now I get it. You are even going to have room for dual exhaust all the way back to the fuel tank without cutting anything. I remember Lee going through the entire front pinion angle research and agonizing over it. He ended up trying to get within 2° of the front tcase flange angle. You knew...

    Front spring over axle question

BOB, Tom is talking about the opening in the transmission cross member that the front drive shaft goes through. He is wanting you to make sure that the shaft doesn't hit the cross member at full droop. For your original question. Caster is more important than pinion angle for street driving...

    running rough

If the return valve on the pump is clean. Then the pump probably isn't shedding its parts. That does not mean the pump is good. My 1009 idles like it was only firing on 7 cylinders. I loosened each injector line at the injector with the engine running. All had fuel and all caused the idle...

    Olds engine in CUCV?

It might be worth your time to buy this "book": The Diesel Page, 6.2L Diesel Volume I I say book, but it is really just a compilation of post/ tech articles from that web site. Very, very informative and accurate post, but it isn't really a book. I have bought both the 6.2 books and feel...

6 Speed to 8 Speed Converstion!!!

Yeah.....I can do that in the dark while trying to back a trailer into a tight spot. Sure. My mental image is of you trying to back up to the door where your lathe is with a long trailer.

That is cool Tom. Thanks for the lesson.
