Having owned over 50 M35a2's if you have to use ether on one under 20 degrees walk away! The multifuel is a great cold weather starter. We had to move one last week and it was 28 degrees outside and the unit started within a second of cranking. Be also hesitant if the seller has the unit...
They might have an orfice restricting flow on the retract side. We use these on alot of our tailgates at my job some which weigh 8,000lbs and they work well. They hinder performance a little but are a cheap way to reduce rapid decent in case of hydraulic line failure, etc.
M818 with 395's
We have outfitted 4 M818's with 395's over the past year and have had great results. We like the XML's as they are quite aggressive and have a wide footprint.
We are in the process of installing 395 XML's with beadlocks on an M923a1 and 1400x20's XL's with beadlocks on an...
I have the M939 tech manuals coming and will be posting them to our site soon. In the meantime what do these trucks have for trans fluid in the Allison 654's from the military? 10wt? Do any of you M939 owners here change yours over to Dexron?
Thanks,
Andy
Thanks Again
Thanks again Kurtis and roll some smoke and make some noise pollution with that Beast in Canada for me! I'm sorry I was out of town this past weekend as I really wanted to meet you. It was good checking in with you throughout your trip home. Keep in touch.

I've always thought a Mack 237 or 300 would be a perfect engine for a 5 ton- dirt simple/reliable/sound great at idle and under load and somewhat small CI so packaging is easier. The old Macks have peak torque around 1200 rpm making them great with 5 & 6spd trans which were quite common with...
We also have the A3 manuals for free download off our website. In addition we have the M809 5 ton and A2 series M35's. www.army6x6.net
hope this helps.

With some help from friends we took some of the 6x6's out for the Memorial Day parade in Owatonna, MN. We had a good turn out this year even though it looked like it was going to rain during the parade. I found that if I used the M920's air horn on the crowd they thought the worst was over until...
front winch
KJ,
Looks like a neat project. I say go for the front winch. The stock front end grill guard and bumper on the 916/920 don't really match the stoutness of the rest of this truck. I'm not sure what the hydraulic winch with cable weighs but it's going to drop the front end a bit...
1) Purchase a surplus 2 stroke Detroit Diesel generator for your home. (2) Make sure it's a na/supercharged only model (no turbo to reduce noice) (3) Remove muffler and let it bark. Hopefully the pesky neighbor will have a for sale sign in their yard in the next few days...
