STEERING
as mentioned the wheel from a 800 series fits perfectly and is considerably smaller. if you are mechanicly inclined converting to hyd power steering is easy and much cheaper than air assist. also easier to steer. i can convert a truck for about $700 in parts plus my time.
winch
this is an excellent idea (although not at all new) the standard deuce wince would be a good choice, just mount the motor where the driveshaft attaches to the winch. you do not need a cooler if your pump pumps less that the hoses and valve can flow. you want very low psi at the pump when...
od ratio
i think the ratio needs to be around 1:1.5 , but you will need other ratios to get you there since you will be very power limited with a duece engine. the .66 to 1.0 was fine with the 3208 and it even liked hills.
'millenium reo' had a cat 3208 and a spicer cm6000 series trans with .66 od. i had been relying on memory, but looked up the formula for rpm/mph and 56 mph is 2497 with 9.00x20. as everyone can agree the dataplate for trans on dash says maximum speed 56 mph, and the -10 manual says "recommended...
the multifuel engine is direct injection with no prechamber but with a twist. normally engines with a prechamber are noisier having a fuel knock., the multi has no prechamber, but has a cavity in the top of the piston. some fuel starts to burn right away and some goes onto the surface of the...
there are already air lockers available, why is the wheel being reinvented? (see kenny's picture) the rockwell air lockers also have much larger axle shafts, 1/4" dia bigger which is a lot in terms of strength. and yes even they will twist off when used improperly. i had 3 of the air locker...
foaming is caused by me turning the transfer real fast with a .66 overdrive transmission and at 68 mph from baltimore to new mexico. i still use 30 wt in my trucks, easier shifting for one.
several years ago i flew to tulsa from baltimore with a bag of tools. it took 3 hours to prep this trucks engine for starting, it had not been run in 18 years, the turbo was stuck and the oil in the engine had completely run back to the pan and all the bearings were dry. i drove it back to...
i hope you have a spare engine, per the manual 2200 rpm is the max reccomended cruising speed. 2300 should give you 55-56 mph. if you need to go faster you need a different trans. at 3000 rpm you couldn't pay me to stand beside the engine..............
i used 30wt non detergent oil in the trans and transfer for 15000 miles with the cat motor, much more power and much more torque and no problems. the 90 wt in the transfer foamed too much at 3900+ rpm. i realize this is not the specified oil, but you do not need the hypoid additive and may get...
the deuce motor is not rated for any use at 2650 except brief moments when you need max power and have your fingers crossed. 2300 rpm is really pushing it hard. this is why the data plate gives max speed. in the 5 ton they went way beyond reason and set high idle at 2800, it is no wonder many...
RE: Re: RE: Fairly Dumb Question
or you could use a test light and see if the selenoid on the starter is getting power from the starter relay above the starter, on the engine. this is a big relay and you may be hearing it click and just think it is the starter.
i think someone is confusing the water seperator (on the frame) with the primary filter (on the engine), plus it is so easy to buy the correct filters for each location, why try to use something that may not work well?
