Just as a little FYI for those that might be considering the BFG 255s. They ceased production for a spell and changed the factory stock number. Searches for the old stock number will show them discontinued. Look for stock.number 04222.
I like all my trucks keyed in the original key. Of course I have planned for the folks who have a key and might take the liberty to help themselves be it the war vet with PTSD wandering though the lot and happens to have a CUCV key or just curious members.
FWIW, there are 2 trucks that I know of out there with Hiabs and pipeline beds. Both were built by members here. Cranetruck built one and BFR built the other.
What happened? Should you decide to pursue it, you would need a custom output shaft for the trans, a 350 to 205 adapter and IIRC, a small spacer. Advanced Adapters should have more info on this swap. It can be done for sure.
I also run 255/85R16 on 2 trucks. Granted I'm not flexing the trucks but they have never rubbed on anything. I doubt that I will ever run a 235 again. Mine are BFG KM2/mud terrains load range E.
The canvas doesn't last that long if exposed to sunlight. Jatonka makes a pretty nice canvas slip cover to fit the Oh-9 and the trucks too. There was also a guy in S FL that was having exact match (appearance wise) seat material made in black. Anything you can contribute would be great. I...
Not really Mike. I'm leaning towards the 465/Ranger combo with this and put the 700 in my flatbed project. Right now it will likely stay as is. I'd like to draw a fair comparison of the gears first.
You will have to pop a hole on the floor for the rod but the dimples should be there. The holes in the frame are there but should have rivets in them for the CUCV only frame supports. Pedal swap is easiest with the steering column out but it can be done by unbolting it. Seat or steering wheel...
Thanks guys, much great info. I am aware of the similarities of the chassis cab rear. One of my options is to relocate the backing plate mounts and use the CC hubs. If I do this 4.10 swap, I will swap entire axle assemblies with a friend. Costs will be minimal unless I find issues in the...
I know that my truck had 2 sets of sidepocket adapters. BII was only one pair so he may have extras. I hope my lead pans out for you. I have pics of the pile of goods he bought but its stuck in a broken computer.
There is a guy in the MD area by the name of Keith Boda. He bought all my pipeline stuff off my Puerto Rico rust relic. I know that it included a few extras items. You will have to do the legwork to find him.
Pics of some of the stuff sold are here...
The main reason I am drawn to this is to get the cab/chassis rear end. It's already 4.56 and I know what I have. I have also owned an M1009. Power and acceleration between the 3.08 and 4.56 can't be compared.
Tire initially will be 235/85R16 but later will be 255/85R16. I've crunched the numbers on the swap. I'm only concerned about the loss of pulling power with my beloved but anemic 6.2. I think I am going to try it. If it isn't what I thought, I'll swap everything to the flatbed project.
As usual, I will not be in attendance. In 2017 it may be a possibility though. I really need to go at least once. I'm sure Aberdeen will shoot for the same weekend. LOL
