Screaming alternator belts...PO used unmatched belts that might be a bit large. I re-tensioned and one is tight and one is OK. I need new ones... What are the proper dimensions for alternator belts on a 6.2 with 60 Amp alternator? What are the smallest and largest acceptable belts, and who...

    Hello all! HMMWV newbie

I didn’t realize Unimogs were like Chevrolets. ;)

OMG! Lotsa time spent on gauges, but now they work despite the PO’s best efforts. Left side illumination light ground screws corroded. They are placed backwards and can only be accessed from the front of the ground plate. Unfortunately the ground plate is covered by a facade. I’d have had to...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Spent father and son time going over my gauge cluster. PO had all wires backwards. That’s what we tackled today. Previously I had worked on tons of corrosion to no avail because of incorrect wiring courtesy of the PO. Now all my gauges and lights work and I have that great feeling that I...

    Hello all! HMMWV newbie

That looks like an outstanding vehicle. Welcome to the madness.

    Two 6.2s much different performance.

From what I have found on the Web: Increase fuel flow by removing 2 bolts holding cover down on IP adjustment hex bolt, and rotate engine manually at crankshaft until adjustment hex comes into site. Then turn that hexbolt clockwise no more than 1/6 turn. If you turn more than that you will fry...

Amaz0n sells noise canceling Bluetooth headphones for 46 clams. I bought a set. WOW. Ears stopped ringing. They work well. Now at 55 MPH I can hear myself think. What a difference(!!), AND not the 300 clams Bose wants. Not a true upgrade to the HMMWV BUT allows me to enjoy her even more...

I await my 700R4, and I'm happy to hear you're satisfied with yours. What is your top end speed?

    Two 6.2s much different performance.

Steve, I think there’s gonna come a point where I am going to ask if I might send my vehicle to you or someone like you to shake it out and install a turbo engine with turbo doghouse. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I also respect your dim view of Central tire inflation system how ever...

    Two 6.2s much different performance.

So, reactivating this old thread with three major questions. Regarding re-tuning to civilian specs (vs military detuning) on a 6.2 1987 engine: 1) How do we properly increase fuel at the injection pump? 2) How do we properly re-time the ip/engine? 3)How do we properly re-time the injectors...

    24V jump box

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice..... Now I knew a gal who it was rumored could start a HMMWV from the tailpipe, but that might be best for a different type of website.

Unsuccessful getting gauges to work so built a quick blinker defeat. My vehicle is A1 so steering wheel won’t accept proper defeat ring. Used chop stix from a prior meal. Guess my vehicle is now multinational.

Some electricity getting to voltmeter to make it shutter when I turn the rig off. So it’s a possibility that live plugs placed on incorrect gauges. Gotta go to manuals to see if gauges plugged in to proper circuits. I have no idea what PO did or did not do so everything is suspect. A friend...

M998 LED Headlights DRL Halos and Turn Signal in Headlight

The halos will require a power inverter to step the voltage down AND a 24 Volt relay attached to the blinker circuit to activate the halo. Despite the lights accepting 24 volts, the halos are 12 Volt and will blow out if exposed to 24 Volt.

Opened gauges. Cleaned and dielectric greased everything. Disconnected ground wires. What a joy. Bolt goes through the fire wall and into the engine bay. Got it all cleaned and dielectric greased. NO CHANGE. :/ I need a picture of wires to gauges to ensure mine is wired correctly. Maybe they...

OK Juan… Thanks. I will look into that and order one. Now the dashboard is my next big thing, because without idiot lights and idiot gauges I can get into trouble. Right side light works. Left does not. High beam light bulb indicator in the dash works. None of the electric gauges work. Oil...

Windshield wipers work but driver's side wiper is loose, and water pump is not pumping fluid. Most concerned about water. What should I check first? If wipers get power, can I assume pump gets power, or are they separately powered? Best, T
