Buying a humvee off of gov planet

Seems to me this guy posted and then ghosted. Not sure this thread continues to be worth the effort, IMHO.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

That's right, Drink gasoline as part of this nutritious daily breakfast, it's greeeeeeeat [or am I mixing commercials?] Needed Esso Tiger for GTO Tiger, IIRC. :D

Ultimately I'm confused!!! Rather than a tiger in the tank, I expected a teddy bear!

    Help with rear hydraulic winch

I would imagine the Cadillac valve is required for hydraulic winches to ensure the engine under load is properly cooled.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I did something simple but super important around my ocean community. There have been lots of threads about WD40 and paint. I actually used it for its intended purpose. All hinges and tow rings and such hit liberally. All hatches and doors and such suddenly normal. It’s the little things...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

It is my strong suggestion that you never post vehicle identification like this on the Internet. It can be used nefariously. Please black out ALL the numbers!!!

Need to Rebuild Steering, But Could Use Help!

I literally just did this. Look at my thread. Ongoing log of my HMMWV. Also my last several posts on what have you done lately. I did tie rod ends. Idler arm. Pitman arm. Ball joints upper and lower. New power steering pump. I was told to order parts from HPG, Kascar or Blackdog. I used...

Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

I ordered a 765R4 so it should be bullet proof. I went with Bowtie Overdrives, who also use the HTTP of "700R4 dot com." I have no affiliation. They told me something interesting. They told me that they can design a manual 4L 80 transmission with no electronic control. The problem is it would...

    Rear suspension spring help?

There were two types of rear upper spring mounts, IIRC, so that is what the picture is for.

    Rear suspension spring help?

There are several types of rear springs with heavier and lighter configurations. Please give us year and options on vehicle AND a picture of the spring perches will also help.

Ongoing Log Of My 1987 HMMWV

Finally designing and ordering my 700r4 from bow tie overdrives. Does anyone have any suggestions about design and parts that should go into it? I’m not going 4l80e as I’m a 1987 a1 and I have no desire to fiddle with an electric system control box. RWH is correct that 4l80 is more robust BUT...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Back in the day I had 1966 GTO with a blower and side draft carbs that had just north of 500HP... and I was unbeatable. I had to box and re-enforce the frame to prevent cracks, and I chained the engine down because I used to rip through motor mounts until I went solid. NOW, you can go and buy a...

    No start issue; seeking advice

disconnect battery when doing electrical work. Last thing to re-install is the PCB or EESS. Only after all this should you reconnect batteries.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Drawing would be awesome. Specifically identifying ball joints and source and tap/dyes and source and length of hex rod and source.

    After Market Hard Top

There is a body guy I know in Staten Island, (NY), who makes some pretty terrific custom hardtops for these rigs. His username is FFesco Great Guy! Talented guy. He and his pop own 3 HMMWV's. All in great condition. Best, T

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Looks like a control rod for a rear end of a fully adjustable rear axle. Readily available but "some assembly required" Great idea!!!

Does anyone sell the PCB / EESS box side plugs for the PCB's?

I am getting back to designing a protective control box work around so I need access to good clean and new connectors. Best, T

Does anyone sell the PCB / EESS box side plugs for the PCB's?

I am looking to buy the PCB/EESS plugs on the boxes. Not the plugs that attach from the vehicle, but the ones on the boxes themselves. Any source for these plugs new? Where would I start looking? T
