Mileage going up on towed deuces?

RE: Re: RE: Mileage going up on towed deuces? James, can you share pics of the truck with one hour and 12 miles on it? I'd love to see it. I assume it is an M809 series truck from the pic.

    Chassis grease??

Don is a reputable guy. I would not worry about a re-pack.

    Recovering a Deuce off base

Get it shipped. Who knows what kind of runner it is? I, for one, don't like taking trips in vehicles I know nothing about. The truck should be serviced before it is driven. I agree with the other posts...insurance is the minimum you need. Tags are nice, too.

    Deuce as daily driver?

Next to the M880, M561 and M715, the M151 is probably the next least popular military vehicle (maybe, we should start a poll on that!). I don't know why. They are GREAT trucks. In my opinion, an M151A2, driven responsibly, could be an every day driver. It will easily do 55 mph all day long...

The future of the M939 series.

RE: M900 Mike, I truly hope you are right. Once the M35s are out of the system, in my opinion, the surplus game as we know it is going to change. First, the military did not procure as many M939 series as the other trucks. Remember, most of the M35s were built during the height of the cold...

    Chassis grease??

Good point, Don. You are probably right...at least while it was with the regular military. Once a truck hits the NG, all bets are off. Some units are very strict about the replacement parts/etc. they use...others not so much. I've seen all sorts of filters used on trucks, for...

    Chassis grease??

For as little as these trucks are driven, the exact type of grease does not matter...as long as it is chassis lubricating grease. What really matters is that it IS greased! I know there are people that buy their trucks, get them home and simply drive them without servicing them at all. Some...

    m35a3s

They are not that high on my list of desirable vehicles either, but that doesn't mean they aren't on there (my list anyway)! :) They are way too expensive in my opinion. Guys are spending $10K+ for them when they could have bought an M939 series truck for that money...and there is no...

    m35a3s

Rumor has it that they will be in the system for years...but I don't believe it by the looks of the trucks coming out. I've seen the rare A3 that needed work...almost all of them that are coming out are cherry! They don't surplus cherry trucks that are meant for the system for the next decade...

    Walk away parts?

I think we may have figured out why so many trucks get relisted. People go to retrieve them only to find that they are not in the same shape as they were in the pictures or when they were inspected.

    Walk away parts?

I should have said that they actually agreed I was correct on the second claim. I was wrong to have removed the property before submitting the claim the first time.

    Walk away parts?

Why even have a claim process if they deny all of the claims? I have had two claims with GL...both denied. They actually agreed that I was correct. Then, they said they had no way to determine the actual value of the parts that were taken so I was SOL. SOL might be an exact quote...just...

    Troopseat slats

Someone down south had some a while ago. I can't even remember if I heard this through this list or the old MIL-VEH list. I hate to say it...but my reco is just to go buy a set of fiberglass troop seats. They go for about $75 a side...possibly cheaper if you are lucky. I bet you'll spend at...

    Hauled home the 5-ton trailer

Hey Mike...your truck's name is Jayne and yet you refer to it as a "he"...as in "he will get it mounted..." Just busting your b's a bit! Seriously, though, cool looking rig.

WTB: A/C unit for an M109A3

RE: M109A3 Air conditioning I'd love to get some close-up pictures and dimensions on that A/C shelf. Hopefully, someone on this list got it!

WTB: A/C unit for an M109A3

RE: M109A3 Air conditioning Mike, those are the pictures of the exact truck I was mentioning. Did you get it?

WTB: A/C unit for an M109A3

RE: AC for van body wish I had saved some pics of the shop van in NJ recently. It looked like it was made for the application. Thanks to everyone for their responses.

    Deuce for practical off-road work

CHICKLIN: Contact me if you want some brand new tires chains still in the plastic barrel. I only have a couple of sets that I want to sell (each barrel contains enough to do one rear axle). They are HEAVY, though. Shipping would not be cheap. I'd take $60/axle plus shipping. I only want to...

    816 with m35 on tow

Sweet M816...and very cool that it is shown what it was designed to do! Thanks for sharing the pic.

    My herd of deuces.....

Very cool! That is a very impressive lineup. Why not diversify a bit? Try an M809 series truck or three. What about a nice M939 series?
