    Brake drum removal, m37

Big hammer on the drum to try and break it loose Mark. Maybe undo the hose and bolts for the wheel cylinder, grind off the back of the shoe tie downs and let it all come off together.

    4 wd light

Pull the plug, jump the leads and turn the key on. If the light comes on, then your switch is bad. If it doesn't come on, trace circuit is you best choice. Could be a broken wire, bad plug, bad fuse, bad bulb, broken tab on the instrument cluster plug or just a dirty instrument PC mat...

    Altenator parts/snapped flange

The alternator ear snapped or the mount ear snapped? Since both can be removed, try pulling them both and taking them to a welding shop. Just be sure and pull the battery cables before you go pulling the alternator. The spark show will be cool but expensive.

    4 wd light

The NAPA part bolts on but has the plastic tab for the truck side plug in the wrong location. Mine only works if I decide to get dirty and hug the tcase, reach up there and push the plug down real hard. That keeps it going until I hit a real good bump and it works itself up a little. I just...

    M1009 Receiver hitch pics

Here are some pictures of my install on a 1009. The exact name/number of the hitch. Which was made for a Blazer/Suburban of the proper year. I didn't remove the pintle hook cross brace. Instead, I removed the bottom screws, drilled holes in the reciever cross bar and installed new longer...

    Front axel boot questions?

He wasn't speaking for me either. I spent $50 for brand new boots and what ever the grease cost. I like knowing the proper parts in proper shape are inside the front end of my 14K pound trucks. Taking it apart is the only way to know that.

    Front axel boot questions?

The boot is probably ripped. Replacing it is the only thing to do. Search through other threads about replacing them, buy up the parts/tools and tear into it. This is a great chance to inspect/replace wheel cylinders, inspect/replace brake shoes, inspect/replace/repack wheel bearings...

    LMC Headlights question?

They are probably comprable. The Sylvania version in my mind is a great product because it is very much brighter and pretty darn cheap at our local parts store. You being in a different country might have different regulations to deal with as far as what is legal to use. If you are going to...

    seatbelt sleeve m1009

The factory for these truck center consoles had a little strap that held them. If you add the factory console or make your own. Straps can be added real easy.

    Windshield Frame Seal Orientation

I got mine from ABLinn. I think the last set was around $25.00 on Ebay. I am sure others have them to sell as well.

    Zenith Carb Adjustments

Um, I thought all the OA-331 engines had a Holley 885 carb? I know both of mine do. Anyway, here is a manual for the Holley: Holley 885 / 885FFG carb manual

    Windshield Frame Seal Orientation

I found that the little raised corner rib goes to the outside of the truck. Which matches up with the picture a few post up: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/paint-bodywork/19367-windshield-rubber-install.html

    Heat and the 6.2

Last summer, I was getting 19-20 mpg in town with the M1009 on stock tires. 20-23 mpg all highway with the stock tires. The 23 mpg run was 430 miles and the outside temps were 107°. Speed never exceeded 64 mph and normally 62 mph gps was my cruising speed. Winter, such as it is in Texas...

Recommended tire size for m1009 and other related questions

I am writing this while trying to stay awake at a teacher conference. I drove the 1009 94 miles to get here this morning. 33x12.50 BFG A/T tires on stock rims. Hummed right along at a super comfortable 62 mph. Those same tires a few months ago had me taking the truck place I don't think my...

    M1009 door striker pin.

A magnet works real good at holding the movable captured nut/threaded plate while swapping out the striker bolts.

    GPW trailer plug question

Al, The plug should be "live" along with the lights it relays power for. I didn't say that right. If the brake lights on the vehicle are hot, then the brake light pin in the plug should be hot when the brakes are pushed. Same for running and black out lights. Is that what you wanted to know...

    How to Multifuel your CUCV

The external gear seems to be the way the steering wheel is connected to the steering box. Notice the shaft is offset from the box.
