    Still got those tubes?

    planning an LDS swap

Hmmm, I read that you've got to move the starter to the driver's-side if you use a wastegate turbo (here's a link to the thread. The only pictures I've got are from the GL auction, but here you go.

    planning an LDS swap

Would I be crazy to try to haul that engine in the back of a 1-ton Dodge Ram (2001, 4WD, 2500HD, short-bed, SRW, extra-cab)? The payload rating is 3080lbs, and I understand that's just about exactly what a multifuel engine weighs in the crate). It's got the 7,500lb rear axle and 315/75/17 BFG...

    1/2" locknuts

I'm in the middle of swapping an air-shift transfer-case into Mah Deuce right now, and I just went down to Fastenal to buy some new 1/2" x 20TPI lock-nuts for all the transfer-case mounts and the driveshafts. $2.50 each!?! Wow. Where are you guys buying these, and how much are you paying for...

    planning an LDS swap

I'm planning on hauling this engine back to the bay area (that's where Mah Deuce is right now), but I haven't figured out where I'll be able to do this swap. If there are any SS members within a few hours of 95037 that have space and something to lift one of these monsters in/out of a Deuce, I'd...

    planning an LDS swap

I found an LDS (new/rebuilt, still in the crate) and I'm making plans right now to go pick it up. The LDT in Mah Deuce runs really strong, but I'm REALLY excited to swap-in a fresh LDS. I've read everything I can find about swapping the LDS into an LDT-equipped deuce, and it all looks pretty...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

That's really interesting about the caster. Thanks for posting.

    before I install this transfer-case...

OK. Had to call it a night on account of the rain, but I'll give the seals another go tomorrow. Don't think vise-grips are going to do it, and I'm a little bit reluctant to use a torch so close to the bearings (wasn't planning on replacing them unless they look bad), but I'm about out of...

    before I install this transfer-case...

Thanks. I tried (half-heartedly) to do that right off the bat, but after you suggested it, I went back and gave it another try. Managed to get it off without damaging it, and was able to get my new oil-line installed.

    before I install this transfer-case...

I just remembered that I had ordered new pinion seals for my axles (with ODiron's axle rebuild kits), but none of them were leaking, so I didn't replace them. Crossed my fingers and hoped they were the same part number as the transfer-case seals. Quick check on ODiron's website confirmed it. So...

    before I install this transfer-case...

Here's a picture to show what the fitting(s) up top looked like. It was just a standard compression fitting, but the compression nut was stripped-out and I didn't like that there were three different fittings stacked on top of each other, so I simplified things a bit.

    before I install this transfer-case...

Here's a picture to show you what I'm talking about. I can't remove that fitting without taking off the back cover of the transfer-case. I guess I could cut/grind off the 90, then install a straight 1/4" NPT fitting and then stack a 90 on top of that. That would probably give me enough...

    before I install this transfer-case...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the tube not being inserted all the way. It's on there pretty good though, because I can't push the tube out of it. Would it be OK to use a regular compression fitting there? If not, I'll have to remove the 90-degree fitting from the back of the case and...

    before I install this transfer-case...

This is weird. The top end of the oil-tube that goes to the PTO uses a standard compression fitting, but the bottom end (At the transfer-case) had this other type of fitting on it. I would like to switch it out for another standard compression fitting, but it's a 90-degree fitting and I can't...

    before I install this transfer-case...

OK, thanks. I'll keep an eye on that. Anybody know what TM I should be looking for to read more about rebuilding that PTO unit? Also, I didn't get any of the linkage or levers with this PTO unit. Would appreciate it if anyone could help me out with those parts that I'll need to make this...

My Bobbed Deuce is almost done

I don't get it. Why not just mount them on/in the tailgate permanently?

My Bobbed Deuce is almost done

You oughta find another place to mount those taillights. Maybe get a set of the recessed mounting buckets of a Hummer and flush-mount them in the bumper or the tailgate?
  18. jesusgatos

    before I install this transfer-case...

Thanks, I'll double-check that. EDIT: I see what you're talking about referred to in the TM, but I can't see how else the mount could be installed. Looks exactly like it was mounted on the old transfer-case. Am I missing something? Yeah, that line was damaged (dented pretty badly) so I...

    Other types of seats..

Anybody put different seats on top of the springer bases?

    before I install this transfer-case...

Just drained the oil and there were some metal shavings on the magnet, but nothing that I'm too worried about. I'm going to pump-in some fresh Amsoil after I replace the input/output seals. And I CAN replace those seals with the case installed in the truck, right? Good tip about the breather...
