Seems you figured out what you need to fix.
Just wanted to point out something stated wrongly. Yes, the drivers side alternator charges the front battery. However, they do not "both charge the rear". The passenger side alternator charges the rear battery.
1 alternator charges 1 battery.
How about November 18,19,20? That way deer season and Veterans Day parades won't interfere. Just a week before Thanksgiving though. Plus if we do it in Bryan again. I can head off for another Yell Practice like last fall.
Thanks for posting the laws in detail. I carry a copy of this in all my MV's. I have only been pulled over twice registered as a FMV in the last 5 years.
One time because the officer thought I had stolen the truck from the military. Showing him all the laws and letting him digest it...
Welcome to the fun of owning green iron.
Your M1009 is basically a 12 volt Chevy Blazer with another alternator and battery to supply the glow plug system and the starter motor. This allowed any military vehicle to jump start the CUCV. The CUCV could jump start any other vehicle and the...
If you are not interested in attending events. Then I would suggest you find and join your local MVPA chapter. Show up for a meeting in your truck. Before you leave, you will either have met or heard about dozens of people that have trucks like yours in the area. Veterans Day, Memorial Day...
I agree with the speedo is the problem. Mine did as yours seems to do, I cleaned and oiled the moving parts on the back of the speedo and all was well until last Friday. First time it has been above 90° inside the truck in a few months. Now it bounces around at all speeds. I pulled the cable...
Since you joined in August, there have been 2 Texas Rally's, a Ft. Hood trail ride, several OKC events, many parades and many other events all within 200 miles of you. All have been listed out and turned into multiple page threads here on SS. Join MVPA and your local chapter and you will have...
The -20 and my personal experience is this.
Needle at F or past with power on means sender or sender wiring bad or sender ground bad.
Needle at E or not moving means no power to it or bad gauge.
If you have cleaned everything and it still doesn't move with power to the proper power lug...
You claiming a "full size adult" can sleep in a 101 cracks me up. Sorry.
Actually, Colton and I had two military cots set up inside my 101 last weekend at the TX Rally. All our gear had to stay on the tail gate, but we both slept comfortably inside. I will be staying in the 101 the next two...
I drove the M1009 last night to Scouts and got to thinking about your idea of hooking the brakes to the hand throttle. I hate to say this, but I don't think it will work.
Brake pedal stroke length changes with how much pressure you apply to the pedal, the adjustment of the rear shoes and if...
As I wrote in the thread Joe linked to. The hand throttle is pretty high maintenance for on the road use. Great for leg/foot relief while on a constant slope up, down or flat. Not much use in rolling terrain.
I did use it a good bit this winter. The truck would warm up enough to let the...
The "trace circuit" notation is very important for the fuel gauge. I found a broken but held together and not conducting wire on mine.
I would suggest you pull the gauge panel and 1) verify power is getting to the proper pin on the gauge plug, 2) use a DVOM to make sure the path on the...
M1008 or M1009? I am guessing M1008 because you want 16" tires, but don't know. Do you have a lift? Because 33's are the biggest you can go without either a lift or fender trimming. If you do a search, hundreds of threads have been written about what fits and how they work on these trucks...
Max hp is around 140-160 depending on which source you use to get the figure. That is full load and throttle though. Figure loaded down and driving 45 mph a M1008 will get around 10-15 mpg. That means a max fuel flow of around 4.5 gallons per hour. That what you are looking for?
