    Identifying Texas FMV owners

Why do we need a list? We have MVPA chapters, Rallys and other events all the time. There are those that show up and those that don't. Pretty much it is the same people doing. At least that has been my experience for the past few years.

    Red seal engine

As pointed out above. REO made the OA331 overhead valve passenger side intake and exhaust straight 6 with drivers side distributor and spark plugs for their M35 designed truck. Korea increased demand and REO couldn't keep up. That is when Continental started making the OAC331. Just like the...

    3rd Semi-Annual TX MV Rally

We had a great time at both the show and the Rally. Even made it home without breaking anything or flat tires.

    CUCV stock power

Are you asking about a 1009 or a 1008 truck to replace your work van? It really matters because the 1009 has 3.08 gears as pointed out above. The truck versions have 4.56 gears. Here is a good comparison from my last two weekends. A weekend ago, Drove over 500 miles mostly on interstates at...

    3rd Semi-Annual TX MV Rally

Colton and I plan to make Pistolnut's in Caldwell by 1800. Then follow his EM-50 flat towing his M715 the rest of the way in. We should make it by 1900 at the park. Or near that time. I am not sure what kind of top speed I will get out of the M1009 pulling the CUCV tarped M101. The last time I...

    6.2 off throttle dead engine

That is exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the input gentlemen.

    6.2 off throttle dead engine

    Got it.

    Transmission Pan Question

Sorry I jumped to the conclusion that you got it too tight. You very well could have it too loose. Put a regular 1/4" socket on there, hold the ratchet basically over the socket and see if using just your wrist you can snug the bolts up a little.

    Alternator 1 not getting excited

Correct, they are matched 12 volt isolated ground Delco 27si units. They can be mounted on either side if they are both up to stock specs.

    6.2 off throttle dead engine

I know this topic has been brought up in the past, but I can't find the thread or remember any of the answers. 6.2 that starts, idles and goes down the road great. Anytime the rpm is stabilized above about 1,000 and throttle is closed all the way, it takes the engine several seconds to start...

    Transmission Pan Question

I think that is way too tight. Yep, just looked in the -20. 125-160 INCH pounds. You did FOOT pounds didn't you? Goint that tight normally breaks all the bolts off and if they don't break, the pan is bent. Time to pull it back off, use my hammer trick listed above and put it back on looser.

    Beverly Hillbillies go to NTC

    Good point.

    Beverly Hillbillies go to NTC

Heck Mark, you don't have any duct tape holding a blue tarp on anywhere. Nowhere near hillbilly look yet. Drive safe and we will see you Saturday.

Brake Parts List - Point me to the info?

1984 K5 Blazer with the 6.2 engine is what you tell them you need parts for. Lots of new amazingly cheap brake parts out there for these things.

    M1009 rear glass creep

Colton and I took the M1009 camping with 4 other fellow members over the weekend. The truck did great with over 500 miles driven. We didn't want to mess with setting up a tent or dragging the 101 around. Instead, we just left the tail gate down and slept in the back with the rear seat folded...

    WMO and Surging

Check the fuel line that runs under the radiator. If you are on the trails, maybe it got bashed, flattened, cracked, kinked or something. Otherwise, it is back to filters, filters, filters. Sounds like you have checked things over pretty good and didn't mention this.

    3rd Semi-Annual TX MV Rally

I have seen the show enough times myself as well. Just wanted to point out the time everybody will be walking the other way from us.

    3rd Semi-Annual TX MV Rally

The loud show at BMJP starts at 1430 according to the web site.

    M34

If it is an original '51, then it has the OA331 Gasser engine. Figure 5 mpg to drive it anywhere, 9 quart oil changes and such. They are a blast to own and drive. Just be prepared to pay to play with it.

Why do people bash the CUCV?

It seems that if a person were to drive from point A to point B, figure out how many miles the distance seperating the two points are and then divides that by the number of gallons used. They would be able to figure out the miles per gallon. It doesn't take 20 years of ownership to do that...
