Medium tow bar would work great. I've got thousands of miles dragging CUCVs of every variety. Since the bar length is adjustable, extend it out a hole or two. The 5 ton won't mind a bit.
Yes, some amperage was lost which isn't a factor for me. The advantage is that now both of my alts are readily available at any over the road truck parts house.
I am the odd man out with this. I have the "plan B" mod 2.0. Both of my 24V alts were replaced with 12V Leece Nevilles alts. Since these are iso ground as built, each has it's own battery to charge. 3 years running, sans issues.
I know this isn't the deuce forum but I can answer the question why the deuce rear shackles are smaller. They are for trailer safety chains, not sling lifting. Rear slings use the adapter that hooks onto the fixture on top of the springs.
Dependability would be similar. Road speed and fuel mileage will vary quite a bit. The blazer has better road speed and mileage than the pickup but the pickup can do some moderate towing beyond what the M1009 can do.
That is the gear ratio of the M1009. I searched the part manual (TM9-2320-361-34P) and came up with the GM part number 368026. In the back is a cross reference and that part number came back to NSN is 6680-01-160-5276. I then entered the NSN into Parttarget and came up with this...
You had a good deal and the deal went away or did you have a good amount? Was that a good amount or a large amount? Does large equal good? I wouldn't call a "good" amount of cancer good.
He still may have one remaining.
We know what ratio was in the original axles but we don't know what ratio is in the 10 bolts. Type of axle isn't significant but the ratio is.
According to the parts TM, the M1009 was the only model using on of those.
I'm glad you dug this thread up. It gave me side splitting laughter originally when Lanty mentioned that the lunacy made his teeth itch. I re-read that and spit soda all over my puter and I'm cracking up again now!
Complete front axles can be costly. The truck needs front end work anyways, I would strip it down and see whats broken. Likely an axle and those are available and UPSable. Junk yard axle could have issues as well. Do it right and be done with it.
For a little fun, here is your truck earning it's keep. It worked hard at that rally, lifted a bunch of trailers.
