I would agree, but I am a cheap A$$ and a full auto browning mounted on a turret - outside in the rain - is just a little more than I could stomach. Funny how when those things are "supplied to you by uncle", it isn't nearly as stressful. I figure if it gets that bad, I would rather have an...

I am not a starter repairman, but I have been told by folks who ARE skilled in those repairs that could indeed be the case. The big thing is that repairing the starter before the armature is badly damaged will save you money in the long run.
.
If the bushings / bearings in the starter are worn badly - yes, the starter could be drawing power where the armature might be touching (or almost) the fields inside the starter.
Have you tried all the other things like removing all the fuses and seeing if the drain is still happening?
.
Makes you wonder if an open pipe kind of gizmo with a luggage rack - or would there be enough fuel savings to consider a cab fairing to pay for it? Seems that most of what we do is for looks rather than actually saving a dollar - so maybe you dress up your truck as you see fit?
It might be...

I am often referred to as a packrat, so I didn't realize they really existed.
It is amazing here how we have tiny mice here - and they will shread an engine compartment in just a few days. Even with all their fluff, they are about half the size of a golfball.
.
Nice idea @Skinny !
Removing the fuses when on a quest for a power drain. Naturally any hack jobs in the wiring for oddball or non-military additions could get overlooked but it is a nice "polite" way to look in one spot for everything drawing juice.
.
Well... I guess that confirms that mice hang out in the desert too.
Nothing specific to being in the big city or out in the country, near the coast, or up in the mountains. Seems that a mouse does what a mouse does - and eventually decides to say maybe offer up a watery contribution as...

Back in the day - they were just fine how it is. Now days, nobody knows what might happen to it as the raw metal it is now... If you decide to paint it, I would mask off the gear ring and the center where the flywheel is attached.
Seems like I remember POR15 Paint, so that is an idea too maybe?
.
I have to agree with the guys... That looks to me like your clutch disk has popped off the rivets on the metal piece that is attached to the input shaft of the transmission. In other words, the piece between the flywheel and pressure plate sure looks "completely shot" to me.
Definitely DO...

I know absolutely NOTHING about the winterization kit and its installation. Do know that the 7155 has a real need for clean dry air though. Especially so if it is cold. Ice in the air lines is bad news for sure. Cold slows things down before it freezes and if the air dryer isn't doing its...

Can we ask a little more? Guessing this is a manual transmission? I just don't see that anywhere in the post. 80w90 in warm climates and it can be thinner in the winter in - say maybe Idaho in the winter. OR, if you plan to park it in the cold weather then the thicker stuff is just fine...
