Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

    65 Kaiser M35A2 project starts

. Well, maybe having a big green truck keeps you out of trouble. Might be that for a while, you could take it on a weekly hour long ride and hold onto your wallet for a while just doing minor stuff. If the 6 year old has any interest in going for a ride with dad on a regular basis - it might...

    65 Kaiser M35A2 project starts

. Not sure how old your kids are, but I can say for sure when my guys were younger I wouldn't have been able to afford kids and green iron. With a little more age on me, now I have other people's kids that get to enjoy riding and playing. There is one family with several young'uns and they do...

    SF 97

. Almost happy for you... You got a pretty useless piece of paper with that many mistakes on it. And with the money being that high, your local NYZ DMV is going to hold out their hand a lot longer as you lay money in their grubby little paws. :-(

Why are my starter bolts coming loose??

. I can't answer for sure about gear reduction starters and the lack of or need for shims. What I do know is that a wrong flex plate or a worn gear on that plate will cause problems. I had a guy across the street from our old building (still there, but I don't see him as often as I once did)...

    65 Kaiser M35A2 project starts

. I have already sent an email asking - and sadly my source has no more... The hard top that I purchased about a year ago had an aluminum skin. There is a military part number on a black plate riveted to it so it wasn't a "repro" part. I don't know if sheetmetal or aluminum was your plan if...

    M1009 Wont Warm Up

. I didn't have the military version, but the truck that I had always ran cold. If you wanted heat in the winter, blocking off about half of the radiator was a requirement.

Squibbly's M1009 and other Questionable Projects

. Nice story about your first CUCV adventure! It sounds like you found a real gem of a truck too. Congratulations on your new toy.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

. Hi Owen, Happy to hear that your baby Brutus is back home from the truck hospital ;-) . It sounds like finding that corroded line was the real magic. Guess the others were replaced too or inspected? That is scary stuff when something like that happens. Even more so when it isn't obvious...

5 ton M923A1 starting issue, again

. It is a ROYAL PAIN, but with your cell phone camera - take a dozen pictures of the battery box from every conceivable angle. BE SURE that every battery gets its own picture. Then take a picture of the entire box. If you can't tell what is positive and negative, get yourself some tape and...

. Training manual... Last couple of digits tell you their purpose in life. -10 is the equivalent to the Operator's Manual -12 could be the LO or Lubrication Order -20 could be a listing of MWO's -24 could be Unit, Direct and General support manual -24P is the Parts Book(s) There are plenty of...

6x6 Air brake line routing help

. The absolute MOST DIFFICULT thing about air lines is "following the flow". Ya know how it is... Air is invisible and trying to figure out what is "air in" and what is "air out" just isn't obvious. Sounds like @Ronmar got you squared away with a good answer. Never hesitate to plug off...

6x6 Air brake line routing help

. Follow the line back to the source, remove the plastic connector and plug it. No need to have a piece of "life giving air line" hanging around doing nothing...

Why are my starter bolts coming loose??

. There should be a support bracket on the back of the starter too - that helps keep the back end from wiggling around under thrust at startup. You definitely may have a shim or two or several missing from under the starter sandwiched between the bottom of the motor and the top (mounting face)...

6x6 Air brake line routing help

. The valve on the tank is your Pressure Protection Valve. If you lose air in the tanks on the other side of the valve or airlines attached to those other tanks - you have enough air to stop before the spring brakes force the truck to stop. Good way to know if it is working is when the air...

Tank Blanketing, for long term storage on big tanks?

. Welcome to the outfit! You have managed to find the discussion and a good place to post your question. Several of the guys are far more knowledgeable about fuel and long term storage than I - but all the same - we are happy to have you here.

    M35A2 brakes not working. Help.

. Nicely done Mike! Good information compiled and shared in one spot.

    M35A2 brakes not working. Help.

. The M35A2 has what are called a single circuit brakes. You loose braking on any of the six wheels (fluid pouring out of a wheel cylinder or a broken brake line) and you have no brakes. Definitely hydraulic brakes with Air Assist is a nice way to describe the system. On older A1 trucks, they...
