No. A properly regulated alternator will not "fry" a battery, no mater what its amperage capability is.
Most of the dual voltage alternator units require an external voltage regulator box, so be sure to obtain that also.
I bought a military turbine genset off a drunk farmer for $200 because it had the turbine in it that all of the home built helicopter clubs use. It was a Solar T-62. Bought it for $200, and sold it for $5000 2 days later. Heard they were used for remote radar stations. It was also 400Hz...
It should only take the same 2-3 wires.
1. Larger constant 24V+ for battery charging
2. Smaller switched 24V+ to "turn on" the alternator with the ignition on
3. Possibly a ground wire if it does not use the case ground. In this case, the 100A may have it, and the 60A not. I don't have...
Change the stat. It is old and they don't last forever, it is a consumable maintenance part. My temp was flaky, the stat looked fine, I replaced it anyway, and now my temp behaves exactly like it should. Even holds 180F going 67mph in 10F weather. Warms up faster, all that. Change it...
There is a small possibility the alternators are fine. Could be the single wire going to them to turn them on, just as a possibility.
As another item, you are charging a total of 6 batteries, which is a lot to charge if they are discharged. The factory 60 amp alternator can't hold 60 amps...
Sorry to tag along on an old ride. I have owned my 925A2 for over a year now, and put 5,000 miles on it. Just last week, I changed out the mechanical fuel lift pump with a new replacement. I immediately noticed this fuel tank clicking after that. My old pump always had wetness around the...
Needle wavering is normal, as it is direct reading with no dampening circuitry. Going to the pin is not. Check the ground wire from the frame to the sender flange, I forgot if that is bad the needle will pin one way or another. You may also want to wiggle all 3 connectors and see if there is...
Each their own, but I think you could do a little more diagnostics before you start throwing parts at it. The next thing I would look at is what is the temp of all the coolant hoses? Is the engine hot, but top hose cold? This would be stuck thermostat. Is the heater blowing cold but the...
Yes you lost, there is no jury, and you should consider to not double post.
I don't think DH wants mac and cheese unless he is 7 years old. You'll probably need to bring something a little more substantial to table. And then once there, we can all talk about the blower resistor that is not...
How can I thank this post 3 times? I'm out blowing snow an hour ago, and I just start laughing by myself, thinking about this, nobody able to see or hear me over the screaming 2 stroker. This sign is just fabulous!
Tom is a good guy. His knowledge expands far beyond his own equipment, and he knows how to hold a wrench. I actually don't have many chances to shoot holes in his wisdom, so when the opportunity presents itself, I make sure to at least get some free food out of the deal. [thumbzup]
You can very easily fit four group 31's, you may even be able to do more than that. Your CCA will obviously double once you go from two to four batteries, hence you would reach 1175CCA x 2 = 2350CCA @ 24VDC (56,400 Watts of starting power!).
It is a 14" piece of stainless Unistrut leftover from a project at work. I'd be happy to cut and mail a piece for free for anybody who is going this path. Please have honest intentions of using it, I don't want be doing it just to sit on somebody's garage shelf. The height is only proven to...
