Yes and thanks GR !!! The hits just keep coming with you, don't they? I do have 12V and 24V for most all medium and heavy duty 6 cylinder diesels. No Blazer V8 diesel stuff.
The engine is 40 years old. You are lucky the rings have any tension left in them at all. It is not so much a matter of 1500 hours, or even your 50,000 miles on the odo, as much as the repetitive heat/cool cycles over time. They may not really be "worn out" (end gap), but the tension against...
In theory, yes, but D05 solenoid valves in series is not really rated to handle the 25GPM max flow created. The better way is to use a parallel manifold with a pressure relief and dump valve that is energized off each solenoid. I am also looking to do the same (switch over to solenoid valves)...
You should throw stuff out immediately upon proof that it was bad. It prevents it from being stored for 3 years, unlabeled, and then re-installed and wondering why it doesn't behave. Above posts as reference.
If anybody wants LDx thermostats installed labor free, I'm apparently in the...
Sounds like your stat is flunky. Have it changed and report back. You should have enjoyable results. Likely won't need to change the "seal" that is within the thermostat cavity, just the thermostat and gasket. It is under the housing that connects to the upper radiator hose on the engine...
Change your thermostat. Low cost and easy to do. I did mine when I thought my old one was behaving correctly, and my slow warm up went away. Warms up much faster now, even in the winter. My fan was coming on at warm idle like yours, and may still do it, as I just changed the stat this...
Not siding with him, but we don't know what the situation was. I had a heart attack come on while driving at age 39, so I drove kind of quickly to a hospital when doing so. Also had our toddler stop breathing and start turning blue while driving, same thing, I pushed the pedal through the...
If your truck shakes over 50mph, something is wrong.
The guy going 80mph obviously has his fuel and governor turned up. He's exceeding the tire rating and speed limit, but he'll get caught and slow down, or have his insurance cancelled.
This is solved. We changed thermostats again with a brand new NAPA unit. Engine now warms up even faster than it did, and holds 180F rock solid with the winter front cover off in 41F air on the freeway. Same ambient temp with winter cover on and we saw 190F in the city streets prior to...
If there is enough energy in the batteries to start the engine, then the alternator should charge them just fine. Even with dead batteries, an alternator should charge them without suicide. That is 50% of its job description after all. The factory unit may not exactly be up for this from the...
Fun story. Middle of nowhere makes it like a scary movie.
I'm surprised you sold a truck with a winch and then bought one without. M35A2 doesn't get stuck as easily, I don't think, so it could have been deceiving to you if you never had to use the winch on your M35A2.
If I had an M923, I'd...
As long as the rotor resistance is equal or greater than the rotor resistance of the alternator which the regulator originally came from, it will be ok. Example: If the original rotor resistance is 6 ohms, but the new rotor resistance of which this same regulator is now going into is 3 ohms, it...
That alternator has to be crazy heavy, and ridiculously unreliable. A replacement regulator is probably near impossible to find. I heard those dual output deals were as reliable as an Oldsmobile diesel.
