RE: Re: Port of Galveston, Texas to Branch, Louisiana
We're looking at a P18 fire truck for our Fire Dept. 2x now available in DRMS system. US build on IH chassis (1989 Paystar F5070 6x6). So paperwork should be relatively simple.
Getting to port in Germany likely may be the hardest part...
What kind of education can your provide regarding vehicle shipment from Germany? Assume drivable, will NOT fit in a container. You use a RORO ship? How did you get to the port? What did that cost you? Ocean shipment to US Port?
There are thousands of boxes in Chicago available for purchase. Obviously you find them at ports, unless some enterprising individual has hauled them out to bugtussle.
You've heard of Ryder, Uhaul etc . Rent real moving trucks.
M1022 is a nice piece of equipment but rated load is only...
I mostly work the FEPP end of the street (DOD surplus for Fire Depts). But govliq periodically has some large sales of vehicles/equipment on Guam (Big Navy/Jarehead and AF stations). As with the sales in HI/Ak no much bidding activity. I'm sure due to the shipping issues.
MTVR hardly is in the same universe as the M35A3. A3 was intended (and was/is) a cost effective way to upgrade the light truck fleet (circa mid/late 90s).
The alternative? To properly fund replacement of the tactical truck fleet including 100% of the M35 series. Anyone now..... Why didn't...
You got that right. With the large expense of fixing large aerial targets the cost of fixing lowly ground equipment is trivial (pencil dust as my bonehead US Senator puts it). And as soon as the AF gets their hands on $ they surplus off perfectly usable ground equipment as HX or H7 condition...
Oshkosh/Pierce are also building a wildland fire truck (The HAWK EXTREME). So take $300000 +/- and join your local volunteer fire dept. I'm sure they be glad for your help and for the truck (probably will let you drive it). And tax deductible...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Check out my new 5-ton!
I'm surprised, had not read that but you're correct. Not sure what rear steer on a 6x6 gains you when you have a 40' semi trailer behind you.
A good photo

Have a 5ht wheel available
If anyone is interested in a 5th wheel. My FD recently received a tractor from US Navy surplus. We are converting to a water tanker so don't need the hitch (do need $ for the tanker project). No sure of the value, interested in opinions. Thinking of ebay but if...
#1 is having warm oil; so the starter has an easy time turning the engine over (just like on a warm day in May), and so the oil is circulation to all those important bits as she fires up. #2 is fully charged batteries (which then won't freeze) which can properly spin that starter. #3 is nice...
This project file from roscommon is to convert a M1009 to "pickup". Info might be useful to your project to build a cab rear wall.

Any of the people selling TM on CD have these included? At one time I can across someone selling CDs with CUCV manuals (but I had no interest). Perhaps the contact truck is included?

Or perhaps change over to a CUCV setup to supply 24V and 12V
