There is one possible variable that is under discussion due to recent activities over in the sandbox. At it's core is the question if whether all mil trucks/vehicles need to be armored to protect the drivers.
Leaving aside the arguement of why thru WWII/the bigone, Korea, Coldwar/Warsaw Pact...
Active duty there were units that were up for years (ond when I arrived and still in use when I ETS 3.5yr later).
2nd section of canvas much easier/quicker to pull across as I went over the 1st rather than across the purlins.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Unimog SEE at GSA
I was once upon a time a HMMWV TOW Pl and Co Cdr. Our engineer direct support was SEE or wheel loader. Typical operator (active or reserve/guard) didn't know much about operating the equipment or what to do with it. On the rare occasion when an NCO will...
I suppose as govliquidation throws huge piles of the various components in as large lots. But they do everything a GP doesn't do. Ours, obviously were free, as to FD. Took some work to get donation of backhaul transport of the covers/liners from Norfolk Va to Iowa.
Recently there were about...
Then just start the auction at the your minimum sell price + your listing fee and don't BS around says I with more than 10000 sales on ebay (and who no longer waste time/$ listing with them).
Working on setting up to house a Fire Dept tanker truck project. Obtained approx 200ft of new in crate from Sam. TM says 8men 5hr to set up 40ft unit so I think I'm pretty slick setting up the frame with no assistance or machinery.
So today I decide to add canvas. One Intermed section...
Re: RE: Unimog SEE at GSA
No, at the time Sam started playing with Unimog was sold in the US by a tractor mfg JI Case. Was mostly a sop to our Euro "allies". You buy our stuff and we'll buy some of your's. History of Unimog

If you ever see a mil 5t (M813 or new) pulling a 6t semi trailer or the older model stake trailer you'll note the nose is "too" high. The 5th wheel height on the 5T is higher that the trailer design.
TM is on LOGSA 3-4240-264-12

I wonder what the use concept for these was. Sam did not issue/drag around enough of these to act as hiddy holes for every troop in the area...
If you're towing remove the duals. If hauling just buy the overwidth permits. Less expensive or a lot less of a pain in the butt (do the work yourself and then you have to load/haul 4x 500lb wheels or find someone locally to do the work and pay them a couple hundred to bring out the Ag tire...
Re: RE: Re: RE: 8x8 for Ron
There is a mil vehicle museum on I80 in the middle of Nebraska that I recall had something similar. But last time I was there was probably 10 years ago so not a reliable source of info.
Re: RE: 8x8 for Ron
On M911 rcvd for our Fire Dept (tanker project). The others we sold for $2000 with a winch hydraulic control and hoses (control to winch). New lines always a good thing to think about as these have been in the weather for 28years. Left or right side winch available. If...
