The chassis is longer on an M809 series truck to accommodate the longer engine. This is why you can't put the NHC250 in an earlier M39 series truck. Don't know about the weight issues.

I can almost guarantee they will never make a better one. It's cheaper to either replace the current model or tell customers to take a hike than to tool up and make one with better materials/tolerances/etc.
