I have done it by the numbers and had mixed results before. Now, I adjust the bottom excentric to the book number. Then, turn the drum while adjusting the top adjuster until I hear it rub. Then do the same on the other side. Very high pedal, no drag or heat going down the road.
A M101A2 or M101A3, basically any 8 lug M101 will be 12 volt lights already. Use a test light and check to make sure your trailer wiring isn't the problem instead of the bulbs.
Going slow and doing lock to lock turns makes any M35 rear suspension move around enough to be heard in a gasser or felt if you are trying to feel it in a whistler. Every truck I have ever driven does this. If you want to scare yourself, remove the bed and drive around a field while watching...
Pull your steering wheel, use the special tool to pull the lock plate. Try the blinker and move the wheel to make it self cancel. Do this in both directions and you should be able to see how it is supposed to work and why it isn't on one side. To remove, remove the flasher button, undo the...
Giving the plug on the back of the gauge cluster a tug/push/wiggle might clear the problem up as well. Those contacts are not exactly set in stone. They move, get dirty and just plain don't work sometimes. Check bulbs first though.
If you blinker light cycles slow when the lights are on, I...
The shift indicator is just a cable from the pointer to a clip that goes onto the plastic cover on the column. Pull the metal and plastic covers off the bottom of the column. You should be able to see the cable and the clip just hanging there. If so, clip it back on. If it is clipped, the...
I guess I need to update again since mine isn't fixed. I was stuck at another teacher conference until today in Ft. Worth. The M1009 once again sat all week in a parking garage. When I went to leave, the same thing happened going down the levels. The rear axle sounded and felt like it was...
I know I have seen at least one thread about the recessed slot with a metal bar across it under the passenger seat in a M1009. I just can't seem to find the thread. So, here is another one.
It seems that every 6 months or so somebody post up asking what this mount is for under the seat...
The M1010 is a different animal when it comes to the charging system. Because of the huge 24V load the box on the back of the M1010 needs, they just put a single alternator on the truck. 24V. Don't read about M1010 stuff unless you want to be confused.
The rest of the Chevy CUCV series uses...
I got it all installed today. M35 hand throttle mounted just to the right of the black plastic guage housing about where a radio would go on a civi truck. Went all the way to the IP with it for several reasons. I could work on hooking it up while standing instead of laying down on the floor...
The last two months have seen a rebuilt alternator, 2 new brake calipers, 2 new wheel cylinders, turned rotors, repacked front bearings, dash pad installed, gauges installed and working, civi center console, drivers vent window fixed and just today, a hand throttle installed. Pretty fun truck...
There are also lubrication points on the rear drum brakes. Where the shoes slide on the backing plate.
My M1009 blew a drivers side rear wheel cylinder a few weeks ago. I fixed it and everything worked great. I drive the truck just about every day. Last week, I parked it on Friday...
What do you mean "old law?" We can still do the plates or bumper number thing. I just titled and registerd my M1009 last month with bumper numbers only. The links in this several year old thread are good and even though the form was updated in 11/09. Nothing has changed...
Disconnect your batteries first! Undo all the screws holding the black gauge cover, then undo the screws across the bottom of the pad on the passenger side. Don't forget the screw on the end of the passenger side that you have to open the door to get to. Pull the pad up and back. It will now...
