Show up tomorrow night for the LSMVPA meeting at Mabry. I might not be there, but as pointed out above. 6-12 M35 owners are almost always at the meetings. Where is this family land you are keeping it at? We have a lot of people 30-60 miles out in just about all directions from Austin.
I have to second the "cover the radiator" with something suggestion. I poked a hole in my Gasser radiator putting the winch back on after I removed it to paint it. Cover the radiator!
A clogged radiator won't move coolant through it. A good way to check is to get the truck warmed up and them use an infrared thermometer to follow each coolant pipe across the radiator. Constant temperature from end to end will mean it is flowing. Hot spots and especially cool spots mean...
Justin, we had a Ferret show up at the Temple Air show a week or so ago. The owner isn't here on SS. 813RC might have the contact info for that guy in Waco.
There is also a guy near Bastrop that refurbishes Ferrets. Sermis has the contact info for that guy.
Your friend has the right idea...
Firmness or travel? With no air in the airpack, the pedal will feel mushy because the air part of the system moves a little from the hydraulic pressure. Make sure you bleed the air pack too.
Travel is more a function of brake shoe adjustment. You can have no air in the system and the pedal...
I normall pump my tank up to 25 psi or so. Starting with a pretty dry M35, I will have to charge it up at least one time before I am done. Just remember to ssslllloooooowwwwwwlllllyyyyy turn on the fluid into the master. The secondary seal on the master piston is not meant to hold huge...
I agree with your diagnosis. If the cable and gear box are ok, then the actual gauge probably is your problem. I have had bad ones in the past that bounce full scale with the truck in granny 1st and idle, some do fine like yours until a specific speed and then tey take off. One that did this...
This is going to sound backward, but going down to a 180 thermostat might have hurt you. the 190 kept the coolant in the engine longer. That allowed the radiator to transfer the heat out of the coolant in the radiator. Now, the coolant is just flowing faster through the radiator because the...
This truck has had the same problem for about a year now. I helped him start it one day. We basically had to wind it up. About 10 rpm at a time from a cold start until it would run without having to be floored. He does have a muffler on it.
I liked the sound of them test firing all the guns while I was cooking breakfast. Made each day start out right.
Just to say it again. That truck is amazing to look at up close.
One of the tech manuals in the resouce link is a engine tuning guide for the LDS version of the engine. They walk you through everything needed to make it run right.
Now I can see why you and Chris get along so good. Somewhere I have a video of me driving my Gasser with about the same number of body pieces installed.
Sermis has a D model on one of his trucks. Riding in or driving the truck, no whine can be heard at all. I have only heard the turbo when...
I will second what Kenny wrote about his "shrill" C turbo. It hurt my ears and he was still a mile away climbing the mountain to the '07 GA Rally. My C turbo is tolerable in the truck, but can be heard for 100's of yards away when the truck is at idle.
The D model can be heard when you shift...
As stated above, brake hold down pins compared to the newer bolts. CV joints in the front, the front brake line is routed differently to the backing plates. If you have to replace the brake hoses which I suggest you do, get the newer style front hoses and get rid of that silly double S shaped...
A bunch of us M715 types have looked into a Big Bend trip for several years now. Mexico and guns pretty much sums up why it hasn't happened yet. Even though we can now make the trip into the park armed, we will still be out gunned by what is coming across the river. I know you are closer to...
Temple airport, anytime Friday until mid afternoon Sunday. We will be camping out in our trucks. Last year we had around 5-10 Steel Soldier members there and about 10-15 MV's.
Check to see if your state has some kind of historic military vehicle registration, antique or classic vehicle catagory. The trailer will probably fit into one of those and they don't normally use weight as a catagory.
The vent for the distrubutor is supposed to T into that line and then a single line goes over to the air cleaner/carb area. I will have to look for a picture of where it goes since I can't find any right now.
