Yup, used to have a line lock on my family's gas station wrecker when I was kid, worked really well when pulling a car out of the woods. But we never used it for parking.

Off topic, But welcome to the world of wrench turning. Its not easy work and today 75% of skills needed is diagnostic skills. Can not emphasis how important that is. That's where the money is. I wont even hire someone if they aren't proficient with at least one diagnostic program. Most of my...
Glad your going to fix it and appreciate you not getting bent with every ones thoughts. You'll do fine with it, work on it when you can. If you ever take it to a show and old guys come up and talk about them, you'll really enjoy having it. I to was a road Mechanic for a bunch of years and its...
I dont know why you wouldn't fix it. Lot of things can be let go and not repaired, Stopping is not one of them! PLus, if your a mechanic this is not a hard repair.
PS: I have 11 mechanics that work for me and if one of them had to ask me if a parking brake was worth fixing, I'd be ticked...
NormB, glad you got it all worked out.
I have mine registered the same way. And I only use them occasionally for a show, parade , get fuel or exercise 5-10 miles. Never had law enforcement say anything about it. Actually the sheriff's house I can see from mine and I have been invited several...
Not sure what the GVW of a Humvee is but if under 10,000 lbs in Maryland has just got to be 20 years old. A truck over 10,000 lbs is 25 years old with no inspection for historic plates . Looks like you got it made now. Maryland really tightened down on trucks with historic plates. Seems some...
Thats awesome. I have all my trucks/trailers etc with my son. He is 26 but we spend a mess of time working on them, going to shows etc. Time together is well spent no matter what your doing. Can't forget my wife who loves the M931 and the M37 is hers :-D
For what its worth, I dont believe any dash mounted gauge in diagnosing an issue. They are good for everyday performance but not troubleshooting an electrical issue. If thats what you have.
Many years using Volt/ohm meter and current clamp prove me right. Good luck hope you find issue.
That's a cool idea. Just make sure you use a mount plate. Or wherever your going to bolt it down is flat. One of the guys I work with mounted one on a frame winch extension/bumper on a new truck [Line bucket truck] and there was a small height difference between pieces , about 1/4" high. when...
I would like go back ...for a day!!!. I'm 52 and have been blessed with a great life, not to say hasn't been tough times, bumps and scraps but overall BLESSED!!
Actually would like to go back for a day a 150 years ago. I saw a map from 1800s of my area and couldn't even find where I live as...
We did same thing as you, even picking up used tires  and putting them back on the trucks. Do whatever it takes I suppose.
Those are tough generators for sure !!
