41-9 stamped in ring gear means 41 teeth on ring gear and 9 teeth on pinion gear. 41 divided by 9 equals 4.56 ratio. 586 is probably May 1986.

    No Start No Fuel Troubleshooting

Power Service diesel additive is endorsed by Cummins now and I have endorsed it longer than them. I use it in all my tractors and pickups in EVERY TANK. It is your injectors and pumps and tanks best friend. I also do not use bio diesel. It does not store well. Seafoam is also good at cleaning...

What he said too. This tire is also more available if you need one anywhere! I would always run the same size tires front and back on any 4 wheel drive! Simplifies your spare too.

    How to fix Blowby

You might try running some sea foam fuel additive thru the fuel tank also. If an injector is not working properly you could have a cold cylinder too. You can do this while it's running.

    Switching Fuel Tanks on M936A2

I'm with doghead. Usually changing the rubber fuel hoses fixes a lot of fuel problems. There are different grades of fuel line too. Buy the best you can afford for a longer fix!!

    Grease preference

I agree. Do not mix grease if you know what is in there!

    Grease preference

Some quality grease is always better than no grease. I see way too much used farm machinery that has never been greased and it is a chore to clean it out so it will take grease. Grease seals out water and dust as well as lubricate. Grease is cheap imho.

Newly purchased CUCV M1009 won't turn over.

Previous owner probably finished off the old starter if it started hard needing glow plugs. Starter needs a full reman and it will probably start again like it should!!

    headers on m1008 w/ 454 advise

None of my civi chevys had the pinion snubber, but they all had the braces. The 400 turbos and the 4 speeds both had them.

    M1028 Won't Start Easily

It is not a good idea to use ether in any engine with glow plugs if any of them still work!! The higher compression engine you have the more likely it is to bend a rod or blow the head gaskets with ether!! That's just the way it works!

    Fuel storage and fuel transfer

DO NOT depend on the o rings on the caps to last very long if stored outside. Water will get in your fuel! 55 gallon barrels need to be under cover. The rim on the barrel will hold the water until it seeps into your fuel.

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

I would suspect one of the tie rods has moved in one of the reused centering sleeves if everything else has checked out. Is the toe in still the same?
