Unplug the wire going to the kick down solenoid on the tranny and see what happens. It is located just above the oil pan on the drivers side of the tranny. Easy to check.
It is mounted on the bracket that the gas pedal fastens to the cab with. It has a plastic slide with a nub that sticks out and the pedal actually pushes it when pushed toward the floor. It will slide down and stick and then not slide back with the pedal.
Check the electric kick down switch located down by the gas pedal. The mechanical slide part will get to where it won't slide properly and try to hang up out of position. Spray some silicone spray lube or wd-40 on it to free it back up. Easy fix if that is the problem.
Keep in mind that some rebuild shops might replace just one failed part and the starter will work for a while. I believe this to be the main cause of some rebuilt starters only working for a short time. Sometimes you get lucky and one will work a long time. Every component needs to be checked...
Try to find an ACDELCO remanufactured 24 volt direct drive starter. ACDELCO starter reman by ACDELCO. If you can not find one buy a good used one and have it remanufactured by a reputable starter shop. These are available on ebay at times. Sometimes you can buy a reman gov surplus starter that...
I see stuff sell in Washington, California, Utah and other places out west I would like to bid on too but it is too far to make it work. I did score my M915A1 in California and hauled it to OK on an RGN because it was a good buy.
Actually you want a higher CETANE rating on diesel. The higher the cetane rating the easier a diesel engine will start and you will have a more complete burn of the diesel. During compression stroke the higher cetane fuel will explode a little quicker with more power. When combustion happens...
Check the two fusible links that connect to the 12 volt diamond by the glow plug relay. Pull on them real good. Make sure nut is tight on stud. If still ok take them off the stud on the diamond and clean good. Reinstall with dielectric grease and tighten. Hope you can get it going.
If your...
Let us know which belt lasts the longest. My money is on the heavy duty green lawn mower belt!
I like my belts to match on my vehicles. I realize in this case you put on what was available. Thanks!
Here is a simple way to set toe in. Drive a nail completely thru a 2' long 2x6 about an inch from the end. Jack front wheels up and have someone rotate each wheel backwards while you hold the board with the nail in front of the tire as close to the center as possible. While the tire is rotating...
I would want to personally inspect vehicle before buying as well to make sure of no flood damage, no wrecks repaired, confirm overall condition.
It is sellers obligation to provide title. It is usually better to walk away if no title. If you must have this one buy it at a reduced price to...
I would make sure it has a Dana 70 HD rear axle with heavier springs and the correct mounting hardware if it is an M1008. It will have 4" axle tubes. You do not want a 14 bolt rear end with spacers to make a dually if wanting a real work dually. Not enough pictures to fully evaluate . Most...
Did you use any kind of sealant on the npt fittings? It would be good to know if both hoses would work with the 45 degree fittings at the block and come away from there together. Thanks for the pictures.
If you install a flex plate backwards you can have problems like is being discussed here. The center hole always has a manufacturing burr that can NOT be installed towards the crank. The smooth side must go towards the crank to mate correctly. I have never had to enlarge any hole for a GM flex...
