I would have towed/hauled I think. Tires could also be an issue.
Porkysplace> Not to get on a different subject, but I'm curious. Will it really damage the transfer case in reverse, in low?? Why would turning the transfer one direction vs the other hurt anything? I drove the M923 about 30...
Not really North East but rather Mid-Atlantic. Bought ours from a private sale. Found on Craigs list. With winch, spare engine, trans and transfer case. Drove it home 150 miles from North of Baltimore.
If your mechanically inclined, private sale might be cheapest.
Sorry about that, I thought they had larger as I swear I ordered 5/8" wrecker cable from them awhile back. Maybe it was 9/16". Shipping would eat you alive with 200' of it.
Does the 5 ton have to have 5/8" cable?? Is it for a bed winch or something? I have 1/2" on the front of my 5 ton.
I used...
Just wanted to bump this up as its about 2 weeks until the event.
Hoped some other Md MV's [or VA,DE] could come out. My son and I are planning on being at the show and shine at Barrett's chevrolet on Saturday if anyone else is interested in joining us. The event at Barretts is not in Ocean...
Ive not installed them yet, probably a winter project for me. They are one piece which as you know requires lots more time to install. I may just take a day and do them both.
I also bought mine form Eriks and they didnt last anytime, almost no miles as we were in the process of painting the truck. Boths sides tore now. Ive bought other stuff from him with no problems.
Just bought a pair from these guys. Bought the non-zipper one piece silicone boots. We'll see how...
Welcome from another Maryland MV owner. This is a great site. Most anything you want to know about MVs is here. This site has all the TM's,[tech manuals] and lots of guys on here who have collected and worked on MV's for years.
Oh man thats funny. The last show we went to was for march of dimes and over 1800 kids came through. Really cool with bulldozers, fire trucks, dump trucks and all for them to play on.
I do have a spool gun for my MIG, but I really like TIG. Depending on how thick aluminum I scrounge up will...
Good job.
I am considering making a boarding ladder as well. Lately we've taken the M813 and M35 to touch a truck kid shows and they all want to get in the back. A 6' step ladder works ok but i worry about kicking out. So i think this winter I'll work on a ladder. I think I'll make mine out of...
good you use low air, but dont dont know what you mean about springs?? I meant spinning the bearing with air.
And Ive packed them for a living for a lifetime, so pretty confident it works.
great debate though ...:D. We all learn alot from sharing ideas and experiences, so all good. Ive been...
I'll have my bearings packed before you and ill be sitting on the porch drinking beer. :-P
Serioulsy, to each their own.
I wipe the beraings clean with rag, then when packing wipe off the old crap that comes out, rotate bearing cage, so rollers turn and pack some more untill clean new grease...
Nothing wrong with your way of doing it, just not really needed. Also you know about not spining bearings with air of course. Can not only fly apart but cause damamge to dry rollers. If you must blow out, blow straight through the cage
You can wipe them off to inspect the condition of the rollers and the cage and feel for looseness with out washing. If the grease is that hard, old that you can't see the rollers or feel for play than maybe you do need to wash it out.
I also wipe old grease out of the hub and wipe new grease...
