I love debates, LOL here is one for you,
I dont wash the bearings unless they are nasty, like real nasty. Why wash out out all the old grease..just push it out with new grease. It gets most of it out and if you dont dry real well after washing out the bearings, you will get a soupy grease...
Thats great news. Just take good care of those who are helping you, do all you can to show appreciation and help them in anyway you can. They are doing a lot for you seems to me. I'm glad you talked with your daughter.
Good luck.
I had no idea so many of you guys have lived out of a car. Makes me feel really blessed .
My neighbor just lost his house after 15 yrs, still had all his toys though. I dont want to judge that, however pretty sure I'd have sold all the toys even the furniture to keep the house. Got a second...
We only stock grade 8 bolts in our bins at work, just easier to keep one grade. Also seems like for whatever reason grade 8 doesnt rust as fast. Nice working with new bolts for sure.
Most bolts are not critical fasteners. A grade 2 will hold a fender or mud flap on. Although I only use grade 5 or better. Except for steering gear box mounting bolts or something critical like that, or for authentic purposes, no need to worry over replacing a grade 5 with an 8. 2cents

Where I work we work on aerial devices. Bucket trucks, 36'-96' models and diggers etc. On a 36' aerial device [man lift] there are only 8 bolts that hold the tower to the sub frame. They are course thread as is all the bolts we use. I can't recall any bolts in the aerial units being fine...
I agree using what came out is smart, and keeps original but alot of fasteners on these trucks are not "critical" fasteners. I can see where on some components such as chassis parts etc, would be good to keep Fine thread. But Alot are just body/accy bolts and such and no real need for fine...
Just realized Jeep week is only a 4 weeks away. last year a few of us planned to get together for the show at Barrett chevrolet but a hurricane kinda spoiled the plans.
Last year they made a category for MVs so pretty cool of the jeep guys to add us in. Ive included a link to the home page so...
Last weekend I changed out the prestolite 65 amp alternator for a 65 amp single wire Delco 27si. I would have prefered to keep original but for the price of the regulator I got the new delco. Delco overhaul kits are only around $30 so for longevity and ease of getting repair parts I went that...
I am not sure about these engines, but my experience with blown head gaskets is it pressurizes the cooling system. Especially since it was running all along. Alot more pressure in the combustion chamber than in a "pressuirzed" cooling system. Dont know what the radiator cap is on these, but...
I know its been mentioned a couple times, but the aluminum flashing worked awesome. I cut a piece about 30" long, sorta bow it with one hand. It bends easy and will stay tucked in. Tuck it between the rim and rubber and hold in place with one hand, spray can in the other. Then move aluminum...
