Since the bolt pattern is the same as the Bolster trailer I am thinking you could lower one by swapping out the tires and rims. I have the tires left from the one I scrapped out....I may check it for fit one day.
Turn the fuel up...more RPM=more speed.......but remember when that yaller motor comes unglued it is gonna cost you a war pension to fix it.
There is not a lot of room for improvement in the A3.....it's the nature of the beast.
The concept behind it was assinine to begin with IMHO...for what...
FYI....that solenoid (right in the center of the engine pic) is bad about becoming de-energised and cutting the fuel off to the engine.....usually happens when you shut it off.
You just push on the bottom of the little rubber cover to reset it.
When it happens and you don't know that little...
2.5 tons=5000 pounds......you can go up to 8000 and allow a fudge factor.
Rent or borrow a heavy duty 2 axle tag trailer (with air brakes) and put another 8000 on it.
That 16K per load......take it easy and make enough trips to do the job safely.
I was rooting around in one of the storage trailers and found a couple of metal (steel) boarding ladders. I'll chuck them in with the rest of the trade goods and let the bargining begin.
Be aware of the height difference on the M920/M916 verses an M915 or civy tractor. You will have to have spacers on the bottom of the landing gear to raise the trailer high enough for the ramps on the frame to get under it........otherwise you can end up damaging the nose of the trailer.
You...
There are several threads on what to take on a deuce recovery......extra fuel filters being high on the list.
If you are driving down to get it and have someone to follow you back that is plus in that you are not on the side of the road by yourself if you have a problem.
If you have a puter...
I have bought one M916 and three M915's, all the 915's had the Allison tranny in them.
Lowest price was $1637.00 (first M915A1), highest was $3700.00 (last M915A1).
The second M915 and the M916 were bought in the same sale and cost almost the same amount.
All were runners (after some minor...
My guess is that it was spot welded and sealed at the factory.
A lot of panels are being reproduced for those type vehicles.
You can cut the old panel out and mig weld the new one in......most of the time they are oversized to fit over the adjoining panels.
Not sure how available they are...
With rare exceptions most of the commo shelters have been stripped of all equipment to include rack mounts and antenna mounts.
In some cases the shelters have been converted to storage units to protect high value items or stuff that needs to be protected from the elements.
You can drop the transfer case (lever sticking out of the floor to your right) into LO and practice driving and shifting at low speeds until you get the hang of it. It is a lot easier to back up and to manuver at slow speeds in LO range.
I was a Drivers Trainer/License Examiner in a couple of...
On the 900 series 5 tons with CTIS you had to go through a sequence to get it to work.
If you can download the TM for it you can prob find the trouble shooting guide.
Vinny.....my old logging buddy bought several of the Freightliner cabs from Redstone and is going to scrap them out. I'll try to get all the belts out before they head to the smelter.
Never forget that your truck was built by the lowest bidder.
It's prob sucking air somewhere......did you tighten the filter good when you installed it? Does it have more than one filter?
I don't know A3's so I am guessing.
