RE: Re: cucv fueling rate
Any fuel pump that puts out 30GPH or more at 4-8PSI should be sufficient.
For the original setup, try putting the rubber fuel line in some heavy duty wire loom (corrugated plastic stuff) and zip tie it every few inches if the line won't stay in it or it won't stay...
RE: THATS THE RUB...
I've been considering this swap for my civvy truck. Any idea what the total cost will be once you guys finish? I figured it was going to take me quite a bit of my own time and probably $2000+ in the trans/computer/misc parts/machining/labor to do it.
As was pointed out...
Pssst... He asked for the GPM "requirement for the engine", not the GPM fill rate of the tank... Out of bounds catches don't count...
The standard mechanical fuel pump probably flows less than 30 GPH, or less than 1/2 GPM. The TM says the pump should flow a minimum of 1 quart per minute...
Got one in MD, still in the truck. Whole truck is actually for sale until the weather breaks and we get some more parts off and the junk man comes to get the rest...
Re: RE: CUCV M1008 common parts with civilian Chevy or GMC p
And actually, come to think of it, I don't think GM every really refers to trucks by the 1, 3/4 or 1/2 ton names except in rare advertising. The model is just a 3500, 2500 and 1500. I guess those terms have just been around since the...
RE: CUCV M1008 common parts with civilian Chevy or GMC picku
They are standard Chevy 1-ton trucks with frame re-inforcements and lifting shackles, brush guards, and a few other military items. The M1031, M1010 and M1028's had the optional overload leaf in the rear and a higher GVW. The military...
Has anyone done the conversion using the civvy controller as outlined in the Technical article written by 85-M1028?
85-M1028, can you check the part number on your wiring harness? I ordered the part number stated in the article (#15306187) and it is definitely not a GP relay harness. I played...
RE: Re: RE: electrical hack job and misc electrical
And since the recommended starting procedure is half to full throttle anyway (depending on ambient temp), the solenoid gets set without you even noticing that the pedal is "held down" until it pops back up after warm up.
It's basically...
The model is fairly large (2 ft long or more). If you go here and scroll down past the Aberdeen pic shown above, you will see several pictures of one just like it. Apparently, it a 1958 Renwal model:

I remember playing with it as...
I found out recently that my uncle was a welder attached to a unit with these beasts. He gave my father a model of one as a kid (he's probably 12+ years older than my father). We were just looking at the model the other day. It's pretty cool. My uncle is supposed to be scanning some pics he had...
You should check with Bruce Kubu (bkubu on here). I think he had a pretty nice used bed for sale from a dump that he put an NOS bed on. Don't quote me, but I think he was only looking to get about $1500 for the complete bed (the bed, cab-shield, tailgate, subframe, lift-cylinders, etc). I can...
RE: Re: white smoke and no power
:ditto:
The waxed filter will cause low pressure, which will affect the injector timing and can produce white smoke and low power.
BKubu has owned/owns the most A2's of anyone I know, so hopefully he'll chime in, but top speed-wise, the A1 & A2 are equal. I think the A2's probably out-accelerate the others since they weigh less and have more torque. They sure feel peppy for a big truck! And they feel faster than a straight...
Re: RE: GSA.
Well, it sounds like it does *run* (after much work on your part). Unfortunately, running, driving and stopping can all be individual characteristics when dealing with any auction. I've seen plenty of cars and trucks advertised as runs well - needs brakes.
Still, it's...
I got my M1028A1 off GL, but it was listed as a M1008. Looking at the listing closely I was able to determine that it was not an M1008. Had someone pointed out to this list that the truck was actually an M1028A1, I'm sure I would have had to pay more for it, or possibly lost it altogether...
:ditto:
I hate to beat a dead horse as well, but I just don't get the point here. Anyone who intends to bid doesn't advertise the lots they want, unless they are trying to supress bids, which is a big no-no. Right now, there are 9 "un-logged" users who could be just surfing and now they know...
Check and make sure the exhaust didn't get loose and start rubbing anywhere on the t-case or support rods or the driveshaft. An exhaust rubbing the t-case or transmission will ring like crazy at certain speeds/rpms. The driveshaft will ring all of the time. You can usually see a "ring" around...
I believe the manual calls for chalk outlines, not grease pencil. The grease pencil would be too hard to remoe while painting the truck and if you don't remove it as you go, the grease will keep the paint from sticking properly.
