Seems prices went nuts as soon as they switched from GL to GP. Of course GL sold them all untested and drained.
I feel fortunate that I snagged mine. I overlooked the forklift hole in the side and it had 2600 hours on it so I got it for $975 before fees and pickup. Unit had no damage behind...
Right or wrong I put a 60 amp breaker on my interlock. Everything else was rated at 50 amps which I was hoping had some buffer built in. I didn't want the breaker tripping when my 3.5 ton AC kicked on. :) The AC side is actually on a 40 amp breaker in the house panel. There probably wasn't a big...
All hookups will be different but I just used a 50 amp RV box on my generator. Make sure if you connect to a main fuse panel that has the neutral and ground bonded that you remove the bonding strap in the generator.
If you have spaces available in your main that align or can be rearranged to...
Was thinking about running a 5000 BTU AC unit. Actual draw should be below 500 watts. Probably 1000 to start it briefly. The inverter I was considering is rated for 750 continuous with 1500 intermittent.
I could probably mount a 2000 watt generator to run it. Fuel consumption on a 2000 watt...
Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured as much but didn't know if the numbers I was finding on the intenet were accurate and wasn't smrt nuff too figure it out for myself.
I am wondering if one of you brainiacs can answer a question for me.
I have a tractor with a 12 volt AGM battery rated at 540 cranking amps and a 55 amp alternator.
I want to connect a 750 continuous, 1500 max watt power converter and run a 500 watt load at 120 volts on it.
Would my battery...
I bought the brass ones linked in the original thread but haven't needed to install them.
Wouldn't this work?

Yes. The little square meter I used that reads Volts, hertz, and hours is connected to the two wires that previously connected to the original voltage gauge.
The volts reads low and the backlight died but the Hz is steady and correct according to my Fluke. The two 120V/AMP meters read correct...
I personally would not bid on a dry cranked engine unless it went for parts price. By that i mean $500 or less.
I bought mine back when Gov Liquidation was selling dry units but they were going for less money. I expect that was why GP got the exclusive on them. BUT GL didn't make any claims or...
First of all you shouldn't be running either without a ground rod set and connected.
The other thing I would look at is bonding. If the ground and neutral are bonded at the switch then both generators should have the bonding strap disconnected at the generator.
I did this with my load bank so...
Not sure how common it is or what the problem is but my unit has a small battery draw if the dead crank switch is left in the on position. I just leave it in off and turn it on when I prepare to start.
Just a thought if you aren't a purist: None of the gauges worked on mine so I adapted generic digital meters to it. I can't find the exact ones I used but you can find different versions that would work just as well. I did have to wait for all the ones I used to ship from china.
For voltage and...
Pretty obvious split in that rubber cap. I would start there. A piece of heater hose with a bolt and two clamps would work if you can't find something better.
I modeled up how I want to mount it. I just used stuff laying around to make a simple cradle. Screwed some plastic chocs onto some pieces of landscape timbers. The final resting place will be where the drums are now.
I decided not to worry much about the black film inside. I have a few gallons...
